Peterborough Police Make Two Weapon Arrests On Saturday

The Peterborough Police Service have made two arrests from two seperate weapon incidents that occured on Saturday.

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges from an early Saturday morning incident.

At roughly 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the George and King Street area at a business where a patron had allegedly attempted to enter with what was thought to be a handgun. The man had initially been denied entry but had later returned without the weapon. Officers were directed to the suspect and he was taken into custody without incident.  During a search of the suspect after arrest officers located:

  • Three grams of cocaine

  • Drug paraphernalia

Through further investigation officers located and seized a black BB gun in a nearby parking garage. 

As a result, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Carrying concealed weapon

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 22.

An 18-year-old City of Kawartha Lakes woman is facing several charges from a Saturday evening incident

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, officers were called to Crescent Street in Peterborough about reports of an altercation between two groups of girls. When officers arrived, they learned that several people were struck with bear spray and then the woman drew what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at the other girls before fleeing into a crowd of people. 

Officers eventually spotted a woman matching the description given to them. A search of her bag revealed a replica handgun, a can of bear spray as well as 3.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, other drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Pointing a Firearm

  • Carrying concealed weapon X2

  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose X2

  • Traffick in Schedule I substance - Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth)

  • Traffick in Schedule III substance- Other Drugs (LSD)

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Sunday.
