PTBOCanada Featured Post: PKED Modern Business Planning December Workshop Series

Are you a small business owner or aspiring entrepreneur? Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development has a workshop series in December for you!

Starting something new in 2022?

The holidays are often a time when we reflect on what is behind us and our plans for the coming year.

In December, Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre (BAC) is running a special workshop series, “Modern Business Planning; A Lunch Time Workshop Series.”

“The pandemic has caused many people to re-evaluate their careers. Some people lost jobs and were forced to make a change,” said Hillary Manion, BAC entrepreneurship officer. “Others have taken the chance to re-evaluate their jobs, follow their passions and start their own businesses.”

The workshop series, which reviews the steps to plan out a business runs for three weeks in a row on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. via Zoom – participants can join from anywhere and attend one, two, or all three workshops. Sign up through www.peterboroughed.ca/events.

The topics discussed throughout the series will help would-be entrepreneurs in planning their new businesses. Current small business owners can also benefit from the workshops if they are planning changes or expansions to their business models.

“The past 20 months have been difficult for everyone but it has also given us all an opportunity to reflect on what is important to us. For many, this has meant a shift in how they go to work every day,” said Manion. “Being your own boss and owning your own small business can be nerve-wracking but an exciting life change.”

The BAC Business Advisors will facilitate discussions to determine your business’ customers, maximize products and services and understand your competition and marketplace.

“These workshops offer up-to-date tools to plan a new business, an expansion or changes to an existing business,” said Manion. “Understanding your customers, your competition and how they affect your products and services are often the most overlooked aspects to planning a business. During these lunch hour sessions, we will be having discussions with the participants so you’ll be able to hear feedback from your peers.”

The offices of Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development and The Business Advisory Centre are now open to the public again. Their offices are located in the Venture North building at 270 George St. N. in downtown Peterborough.

Complimentary consultations with their Business Advisors are available in person, over the phone or through video calls. Public health protocols and social distancing are in effect for in-person meetings.
