Vinnies is dedicated to giving back to the community. Profits made from the thrift store go towards their food bank and other special projects to help support Peterborough.

“What people don’t know when they shop at Vinnies is that it really helps the less fortunate in our community,” said Sue Mazziotti-Armitage, Client Care Coordinator.

Their food bank wants to provide nutritious options and staple items to help with the daily needs of Peterborough. Fresh produce, fresh eggs, personal items, feminine hygiene products, meat and much more.

“We get to buy regular everyday staples that people suffering from food insecurities or lack of money can get,” said Mazziotti-Armitage. “The community supports us by bringing the donations down to us.”

Vinnies has helped over 20,000 families in Peterborough and the Kawarthas last year.

Moving to East City will provide more storage, a larger storefront and more staff to provide service to Peterborough.

“It was perfect. The size, our same landlord on George Street was going to help us to move to East City, it is still accessible from downtown and we’re so excited.”

The East City location will be open six days a week, Mon. to Sat. from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You can also visit Vinnies at their locations in Lakefield at 144 Queen St. or on 799 Erskine Ave. in Peterborough.

Their food pantry is located at 256 Murray St., open on Wednesday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
