PTBOCanada Featured Post: Wilkins Art & Creative Youth Art Classes With Jason Wilkins

Local artist Jason Wilkins of Wilkins Art & Creative has launched sign-ups for the fall session of his youth art workshop, in hopes to spark creativity and grow confidence in local youth.

Wilkins youth art classes are open to kids aged 5 to 12. The illustrator and muralist says the main focus of his workshops are to support each other and have fun.

“Kids are not yet set in their ways, and are creatively open to exploring, without boundaries,” said Wilkins.

During the five-week class, participants will draw, sculpt, paint, learn to draw cartoons and much more while engaging with other kids in a safe space.

“Being in a creative space and knowing they’re supported allows for amazing things to develop,” explained Wilkins. “This is why I love teaching kids. Helping them realize what they’re capable of and seeing their confidence grow, there’s nothing like it.”

A lifelong artist, Wilkins's main message he wants to portray is positivity through bold lines and pops of colour. By working with youth, he hopes to spread that positivity and set them up with creative outlets they can use in other areas of life.

“It’s something they can carry with them forever and lean on when things get tough outside my studio doors,” he said.

Wilkins workshop will run on Thursdays from Sept. 15 - Oct. 13 from 5 - 7 p.m. Cost is $275 + HST per participant. Those interested should contact Jason Wilkins through Instagram @jwilkinsfactory by email at hi@wilkinsartandcreative.com.
