27-Year-Old Peterborough Man Arrested After Multiple Residential Break and Enter Incidents

A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges in connection with three residential break and enter incidents.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to a residence in the Monaghan Road and Bolivar Street area after it was reported a man had entered a home while the family was eating dinner. The man reportedly fled when confronted by the homeowner. Officers attended the area and located a man matching the description given to police. 

Through investigation it was further learned that the man had broken into the same home on Saturday.

A third break and enter was also identified as connected to the suspect. This incident happened in the early morning hours of Wednesday, in the Maria Street and Rogers Street area. 

No one was injured in any of these incidents.

As a result, a 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence X3

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property

  • Use of Credit Card

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Fentanyl

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Thursday.

Break and Enter Investigation Underway After $30,000 In Phones Stolen

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Street Crime Unit are investigating a break and enter into a local business after 30-40 phones were reported stolen.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Monday, damage to a storefront window at a business on George Street near Brock Street was reported to police. It was learned that 30-40 phones had been taken at a value of approximately $30,000.

Officers located and seized several items believed to be used to break the window and glass cases. It’s estimated the damage to the glass was about $2,700.

From Peterborough Lakefield Police...

Break and enter arrest:

On the 23rd June 2012 at approximately 2:00 am the Peterborough Lakefield Police responded to an alarm at PCVS.  Officers quickly attended and contained the school and began to search the inside.  Once inside officers learned that the chemistry lab had been entered and several bottles of chemicals had been removed and some of them had been spilled onto the floor.  The Peterborough Fire Department was contacted and attended to ensure that none of the chemicals posed any risk to persons within the school or to the school itself.  Once it was determined it was safe to proceed officers continued to check the school and located the 3 culprits hiding within.  Arrested and charged with Break and Enter are 20 year old Steven Bourne of Peterborough, 21 year old Travis Turner of Peterborough and 22 year old Matthew Cummings of Peterborough.  All three males were released from custody and will appear in court on the 19th July 2012 to begin the process to determine their guilt or innocence.
