Two People Charged With Drug Possession Following An Impaired Driving Call

Two people are facing drug charges after a possible impaired driving call early Monday morning.

At roughly 6:45 a.m., officers received calls regarding a possible impaired driver.  Police arrived at the underground parking lot in the Sheridan Street and Hunter Street area and located a man and a woman in a vehicle. While there were no signs of impairment with the driver, the officer noticed drug paraphernalia. 

During a search of the man after arrest, officers seized:

  • 13.7grams of Fentanyl

  • 3 Fentanyl tablets

  • Cell phone

  • Canadian currency

  • Scale

A 56-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin)

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on Monday.

A 24-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.
