SolarFest Lakefield – previously known as the Lakefield Sidewalk Sale will be taking place this year on Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Lakefield.

Queen Street from Bridge Street to Reid Street will be closed for pedestrians during the event. There will be sidewalk sales, artisan vendors, live entertainment, family activities, local food, and the return of the Lakefield Fairy Festival. The event also includes a free community barbecue and encourages visitors to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Lakefield Community Food Bank. The ninth Annual A Night in White Garden Party returns to Johnston's Greenhouse on Sept. 18, in support of the YMCA of Central East Ontario's Strong Kids Campaign.

Community Care is currently looking for volunteer drivers in the Lakefield area to help provide transportation for residents attending medical appointments, grocery shopping and other activities that support independent living.
