If you've noticed the smell of smoke in Peterborough, you're not alone.
The City of Peterborough says smoke from forest fires in northern Ontario is affecting local air quality, and Peterborough Fire Services has been receiving calls from concerned residents.
Fire officials are reminding residents to call 911 only if they see a fire. People are asked not to call 911 or Peterborough Fire Services about the smell of smoke alone so emergency phone lines remain available for urgent situations.
