The back parking lot at Spanky's is a place to be Saturday, July 14th. They have a special permit and licensed area, where local bands and DJs will be performing. It's also a fundraiser for the Peterborough Breast Cancer Support Group.

Although numerous canoe related festivities took place this weekend, National Canoe Day is officially today (June 26th). The Canadian Canoe Museum—housed right here in Peterborough—is hosting an open house to celebrate, so stop in and explore some of our canoe heritage and culture.

There is a new mural going up on the side of the Lillico Bazuk Kent Galloway Barristers & Solicitors Building at 163 Hunter Street. Local artist Justine Landry, who recently graduated from P.C.V.S., worked with them to find a fresh new design and is currently painting it.

4th Line Theatre's first production of the season is Queen Marie, a rag-to-riches musical comedy about the life and times of Hollywood star Marie Dressler. This Vaudeville silver-screen legend's life spanned from being born in Cobourg, to winning an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1931.

Tickets for Elton John's September 8th show at the Memorial Centre don't go on sale until this Friday at 10 a.m., but people have already begun lining up tonight. A couple of them told us they are doing shifts to keep their spot in line, while others are hunkering down. Watch the line continue to grow overnight and into tomorrow.
