City Facilities to Reopen On Monday
/Certain City of Peterborough facilities that were closed due to the modified stage two from the Ontario Government related to COVID-19 will reopen to in-person services on Monday.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all visitors to City facilities must wear a tight-fitting face covering that covers the nose, mouth and chin unless the facility allows an exception for specific activities such as exercising. Where practicable, physical distancing must be maintained from those not from the same household.

The City continues to encourage people to use online and phone options to access municipal services, where available, to reduce in-person interactions as part of efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Community Arenas
City community arenas will reopen on Monday for permitted rentals and programming, with the following requirements and restrictions:
All individuals aged 12 and over entering a facility must present an enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code and valid ID prior to entry.
All individuals entering an arena facility must actively screen using www.peterborough.ca/ArenaScreen to record the name(s) and contact information of every member of the public entering the facility.
On-ice participants are limited to 60 per group including all players, coaches and gameplay officials.
Spectators are limited to two per participant, up to a maximum of 120 spectators for each ice pad.
Physical distancing and wearing of a proper tight fitted mask will be required at all times while in common areas in the facility, including dressing rooms. Masks may only be removed immediately prior to activity.
Facility entry is allowed no earlier than 30 mins prior to permitted time. Participants are encouraged to enter as prepared to play due to limited change room capacities.
Dressing room capacities will be posted. Chairs will be provided for use in common areas such as dressing room hallways.
Food and beverage will not be permitted or sold in the facility and masks are to be properly worn by all spectators at all times.

Art Gallery of Peterborough
The Art Gallery of Peterborough will remain closed for the month of February while work is completed for lighting improvements to the main gallery space and the installation of new exhibitions.
The Gallery is anticipated to reopen in March with new exhibitions and the onsite March Break Art Camp.

Downtown Youth Space
The Downtown Youth Space at 201 McDonnel St. will reopen Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., resuming normal operating hours Tuesday through Friday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Peterborough Museum and Archives
The Peterborough Museum and Archives will resume regular open hours, starting on Monday:
Weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Weekends and statutory holidays noon to 5:00 p.m.

Peterborough Public Library
The Peterborough Public Library remains open with visitor capacity limited to 50 per cent in compliance with the provincial regulation.
Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre
The Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre will reopen on Monday, Jan.31 The facility will have the following hours of operation:
Mon. - Fri.: 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Sat. and Sun.: 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The center will be closed on Family Day, on Monday, Feb. 20, 2022.
In accordance with the provincial regulation, visitor capacity at the centre is limited. The following capacity limits will be maintained on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Building capacity limited to 375 persons
Fitness Centre, including fitness studio capacity limited to 80 persons
Multipurpose rooms capacity limited to 15 persons per room
Gymnasiums capacity limited to 80 persons per gym
As required by the Province of Ontario, all patrons ages 12 years and older must complete a daily COVID screening, provide government-issued identification and proof of vaccination enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code to enter the Sport and Wellness Centre with the following exemptions for proof of vaccination:
Patrons who have a valid proof of medical exemption will be permitted
Patrons born in 2010 and who are 12 years and 12 weeks of age or younger
Patrons under the age of 12 will be able to access programs without proof of vaccination
Participants who were previously registered in programs will be contacted regarding revised start dates. Member classes, including fitness and drop-in sport programs, will begin on Jan. 31.
Memberships that were put on hold during the facility closure will be reactivated automatically on Jan. 31.

PPH has stated that plenty of appointments are available later in the week at Healthy Planet Arena, with more than 1,500 appointments in the system.

Significant Weather Event Declared By The City of Peterborough
/The City of Peterborough is declaring a Significant Weather Event as an alert of the extreme weather conditions that could pose a danger to the use of city roads, sidewalks and bike lanes announced Monday.

“Declaring a Significant Weather Event is a way to advise residents, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists that conditions on roads, sidewalks and bike lanes can be expected to be delayed compared to typical levels of service,” said John Czerniawski, Public Works operations supervisor.
The City is deploying resources to address road conditions as a result of the storm. Please be cautious on roads, sidewalks and bike lanes during the Significant Weather Event as road conditions can vary drastically during a Significant Weather Event.
Motorists are advised to stay home and only use the roads for necessary travel.
“Crews have been out on streets and sidewalks since 1:30 a.m. working on the roads and all snow clearing resources will continue to be deployed 24 hours a day for this response,” said Czerniawski. “This is not an emergency situation, but the snow clearing work will take some time to complete with the amount of snow that has fallen and continues to come down this morning.”
Snow clearing operations are currently focused on main roads – arterials and collectors – as well as sidewalks. Crews are expected to move into residential streets Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
Municipalities can declare a Significant Weather Event under the Municipal Act, 2001, O. Reg. 239/02, relating to the maintenance of municipal roads, sidewalks and bike lanes. All roadways in the municipality are deemed to be in a state of repair with respect to snow accumulation.
Inclement Weather Temporarily Closes City and Public Services

Due to the inclement weather, Peterborough received overnight, several city services are temporarily closed for Monday.

Peterborough Transit has closed its services. They will monitor conditions and will resume service when safe for customers and staff.
An update will be provided when service resumes. Transit customers can call Peterborough Transit customer service for information 705-745-0525 or follow transit on Twitter @ptbo_transit for information.
The City of Peterborough Social Services office at 178 Charlotte St. is closed due to the weather conditions. Social Services is operating by-phone services at 705-748-8830. The Social Services office will re-open for in-person services at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
City-operated child care centres at Pearson Day Care and Peterborough Day Care are closed on Monday due to the weather conditions. Families have been contacted regarding the closures.
The City-operated before and after-school child care programs at Edmison Heights Public School and Westmount Public School are closed as the school board has closed all schools due to the weather.
Peterborough Public Library at 345 Aylmer St. is closed on Monday, due to the weather conditions. The library will re-open for in-person service on Tuesday. Online services are available at www.ptbolibrary.ca. The building and the washrooms will remain open as a warming space.
Trent University (Peterborough and Durham Campus) is closed however remote classes are still scheduled to run. Essential services remain open for students living on campus. Those on campus are encouraged to exercise caution.
Lansdowne Place Mall has closed all its stores for the day.
Curbside Recycle Collection Experiencing Delays Due To Extreme Cold Weather
/The City’s contractor for the curbside collection of recyclables, Emterra is experiencing delays on some routes due to Tuesdays extreme cold weather impacting the hydraulics on their collection vehicles.
Collection is ongoing, however the following streets may not have recyclables collected until Wednesday morning:
Sherbrooke Street
Dalhousie Street
Alymer Street North
Stewart Street
Wolfe Street
Townsend Street
Rink Street
George Street North
Park Place
Residents on these streets are asked to leave their blue boxes at the curb, or to place them at the curb by 7 a.m. tomorrow morning.
If they wish, residents may to bring their recyclables to the Recycling Depot at 390 Pido Road. The facility remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

List Of City Services On New Years Eve And Day
/Many City of Peterborough facilities and services will have modified hours or be closed over the holidays. Regular hours for most services resume on Jan. 4, 2022.
There are no changes to curbside garbage and recycling collection over the holiday period. For missed recycling collection, phone Emterra at 705-742-3139. For missed garbage collection, phone Public Works at 705-745-1386.
Essential services, such as emergency services, public works and wastewater treatment, continue uninterrupted. Public Works can be reached for urgent matters at 705-745-1386. This line is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Most recreation and community services are open with revised hours of operation.
There will be adjustments to Transit schedules from Dec. 30 to Jan. 7, including suspended late night trips as well as early last trips on Dec. 31. There is no service on Jan. 1. The Peterborough Memorial Centre will host the Peterborough Petes’ first exhibition game at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale at www.memorialcentre.ca.
Kinsmen Arena will be closed.
Healthy Planet Arena, formerly known as the Evinrude Centre, will be open from noon until 9 p.m. on September 6.

There will be no change to curbside collection of garbage, recycling and green waste.
The Household Hazardous Waste Depot and the Peterborough County and City Waste Management Facility (landfill) will be closed on September 6.
The Pido Road Recycling Depot remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Relief Services Being Made Available During Peterborough Heat Alert
/One Roof Community Center is extending its hours of service due to temperatures reaching over 31 C in the Peterborough area.

The change is going from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with the to-go meal provided between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday to Wednesday.
The centre is closed to drop-in service from noon to 3:00 p.m. for the meal preparation and pickup period to protect the health and safety of the public, volunteers and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
One Roof Community Centre, which provides services on behalf of the City and County of Peterborough, is located at 99 Brock St. For full description of meals and other services that One Roof provides, please visit their website at www.oneroofptbo.ca.
Outdoor water bottle filling stations are available at City facilities in the following locations:

People are also able to refill water bottles at the Peterborough Public Library on Aylmer Street on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
