From a Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service Media Release today... 

The Peterborough Lakefield Community Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing person.  Deborah Young is a 51 year old female who is described as; Caucasian, 5'4", 130 lbs, short dark brown hair, brown eyes, with a distinctive gap in her front teeth.  There is no clothing description available.
 
Young was last seen on November 5th, 2011 at her residence in Peterborough's south end.  There is a possibility that Young may attempt to access her vehicle which was stored somewhere in Quebec.  The vehicle is a 1998 Chevrolet GMC Pickup truck blue in colour, bearing Ontario licence 268 5YD.

Police Catch Two Men Stealing Metal Railway Parts By CPR Train Tracks

Metal Theft Arrests:

On the 2nd of November at approximately 10:00 pm officers attended in the area of Chamberlain Street after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle parked off the road by the CPR train tracks. They located two men loading metal railway parts into a pick up truck. The property consisted of 162 metal mounting brackets, two pieces of metal rails, six metal rail joiners and other assorted metal parts. Derek Keith Reid age 32 of Park Street South and Michael Ryan Burns age 31 of Lafayette Avenue were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.00 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.00. Both men were released from custody. Reid will attend court on the 1st of December and Burns on the 24th of November.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Stabbing Of Cab Driver

Arrest Made In Cab Driver Stabbing:

On the 1st of November at approximately 12:47 am officers were called to the area of King and Margaret Street to assist a cab driver that had been stabbed. The driver, a 64-year-old male, was taken to hospital where he is being treated for several stab wounds. As a result of the investigation, officers identified a suspect and at approximately 8:00 pm, Spencer Gerald Cooper age 19 of McKellar Street was located and arrested on McDonnel Street. He has been charged with attempt murder. He has been held in custody and will appear in court later this morning. The victim remains in the hospital in stable condition. 3 Separate Stabbing Incidents On Police Report Today Including A Cab Driver Stabbed Early This Morning

Warrant Arrest:

On the 28th of August 2011, officers were called to a disturbance at a Herbert Street residence where it is alleged that the victim, a 33 year old male, was stabbed in the arm by a male while at a backyard get together. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued to arrest Murdock Roderick McNeil age 35 of Cornwall Street in Omemee for assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. On the 31st of October McNeil turned himself in at the Peterborough Lakefield Police Station on Water Street. He was arrested, held in custody and will appear in court later this morning.

 

Cab Driver Stabbed:

On the 1st of November at approximately 12:47 am officers were called to the area of King and Margaret Street to assist a cab driver that had been stabbed. Stabbing On McKellar Street:

Police continue to investigate the stabbing on McKellar Street and there is no further information to release at this time. As previously mentioned, this stabbing has been determined to be an isolated incident and is not related to Halloween activities or the stabbing of the cab driver. 14 Year Old Female Student Arrested After Threatening To Kill Teacher & Student Teacher

Arrest for Threatening
 
On the 28th of October 2011 staff at Peterborough Collegiate Vocational Institute contacted police regarding an incident with a 14 year female student. During a classroom activity the student was spoken too regarding her behaviour. As a result of this action the student threatened to kill a teacher and a student teacher in that class. The student was removed from the classroom and escorted to the office. While dealing with office staff the student spit in the face of the teacher she had previously threatened. The student was removed from the school and police were contacted.

On the 29th of October 2011 police arrested the 14 year old female for assault and uttering death threats. At the time of her arrest the youth was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. The youth was transported to the police station for further investigation. While at the station the youth became upset and kicked a window in an interview room several times causing the window to break. As a result of her actions the 14 year old female was charged with assault, utter death threats two counts, possession of a controlled substance and mischief. She was held in custody for court for the 30th of October 2011.

There Was A Big Drug Bust In Peterborough Yesterday

Drug Arrest:
 
On the 28th of October 2011 the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service Drug Unit conducted a drug investigation involving a vehicle picking up drugs in Toronto and delivering them to Peterborough to sell.  A vehicle stop was made in Peterborough and the occupants were arrested.  During the arrest the passenger attempted to throw away a digital scale and then resisted the arresting officers.  Police located a quantity of pills inside the vehicle.  After the occupants were transported to the police station officers located cocaine and marihuana that the passenger was attempting to hide in the prisoner compartment of the marked police cruiser.
 
The total drug seizure was 49 oxycontin tablets, 58 grams of cocaine and 2 grams of marihuana.  The estimated street value of the drugs is $7,145.00.  Other items seized are 1994 Audi 90, scales, cell phones and money.
 
This investigation led police into a search warrant of the drivers residence on Monaghan Road which produced a small quantity of oxycontin tablets, cocaine cutting agent, cell phones and $1,745.00 cash.
 
Jeremy Arbour of Monaghan Road Peterborough is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking (two counts-Cocaine and Oxycontin), Possession of Property Obtained by the Proceeds of Crime and Breaching a Probation Order (two counts).
 
Michael Baker of Cottingham Road Omemee is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking (two counts-Cocaine and Oxycontin), Resist Peace Officer and Breaching a Probation Order.
 
Both parties have been held in custody to attend Wash court on the 29th of October 2011.

Stolen Truck Recovered:

The 2012 International truck bearing licence plate # 2664ZW that was reported stolen from the lot at Winslow Gerolamy has been recovered. On the 25th of October at approximately 3:00 pm police were called to the rear parking lot behind the Sleep Country store on Lansdowne Street West after witnesses observed the stolen truck parked there. Suspects removed the driver’s door lock, ignition, interior light, and plastic casing surrounding the ignition. Anyone with information on this theft is asked to call the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Stolen Vehicle:

Sometime between 10:00 am on the 22nd of October and 9:00 am on the 24th of October suspects stole a 2012 International Pro Transport truck, white in colour, bearing Ontario licence # 2664ZW. The truck that is used as a rental unit was parked in the rear lot at Winslow Gerolamy Motors on Lansdowne Street West. It is valued at $115,000.00. Both sets of keys have been accounted for and at this time it is unknown how the vehicle was entered and started. Officer Sustains Broken Toe Trying To Break Up Melee Outside Downtown Bar

Arrest as a result of a Disturbance
 
On the 22nd of October 2011 officers on patrol during bar closing in the downtown core observed a group of people engaged in a altercation on the street. Officers attempted to intervene to break up the group. One of the persons  continued to be aggressive with people in the crowd and officers. A second person in the crowd was also aggressive and was taken into custody for causing a disturbance. While this male was being dealt with the first male attempted to intervene in the arrest and had to be subdued by an officer. This male then resisted arrest and struggled with police. As a result of the arrest and subsequent struggles one officer suffered a broken toe and was treated at PRHC and released. Charged with Cause a Disturbance and Possession of a Controlled Substance was Kenny Porter 27 years old. He was held for court on the 24th October 2011. Charged with Cause a Disturbance and Assault Police is Michael MacDougall 25 years old. He was released on Bail for court on the 27th of October 2011.

Police Asking For Public’s Assistance In An Assault Investigation

On September 26, 2011, at approximately 12:30 am, a female was walking on Brealey Drive in the area of St. Josephs at Fleming. She was grabbed from behind by an unknown male, knocked to the ground, kicked in the stomach and then punched in the face. The female managed to get away and ran to a friend's residence nearby and called Police. The female was treated at the hospital for some bruising to her face and arms and was later released. The suspect is described as male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweater.

Last Night There Was A Home Invasion In Peterborough

Robbery/ Home Invasion:

On the 18th of October at approximately 8:15 pm the victims, a 23 year old male and a 21 year old female, were in their Dalhousie Street residence when they heard a knock at the door. The male went to answer it and was confronted by a male with his face covered and armed with a toy handgun. He forced his way into the home and once inside he pushed the male victim, threatened him with a knife and demanded money. The female victim heard the commotion and came into the kitchen to investigate. She was also threatened by the knife wielding suspect. They turned over approximately $135.00 cash and the suspect left. The police were called and located the toy handgun and the knife in the area. The suspect is described as being a white male, approximately 6’ tall, in his mid 20’s, skinny build, wearing a black toque, a black coat with a hood up over his head, black gloves with the fingers exposed, black pants and a black cloth covering his mouth and lower facial area.
