Lakefield Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Being Involved In Minor Collision

A 66-year-old Lakefield man is facing an impaired driving charge following a minor vehicular accident on Tuesday afternoon.

At roughly 3:30 p.m., a minor two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Bridge Street and Clementi Street in Lakefield. Upon arrival, officers spoke to one of the drivers and noticed signs of impairment. 

The man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Careless driving (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court June 24.

Peterborough Teen Charged With Impaired Driving Leading to a Collision

A 19-year-old Peterborough man is facing an impaired driving charge that led to a collision on Thursday night.

At roughly 9 p.m., a collision at Armour Hill occurred between two vehicles and one fleeing the scene.

While police searched for the second vehicle, they received a call that the driver was at the police station. Officers noticed signs of impairment after speaking with the driver. The vehicle was later located in a parking lot near Armour Road and Hunter Street East. No one was injured in the collision.

The man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Careless driving (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued a 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.

Oshawa Man Charged With Armed Robbery and Drug Trafficking Charges From a March Incident

A 23-year-old Oshawa man is facing drug possession charges after an investigation by officers with the Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit.

In March, the Peterborough Police Service responded to a robbery. An investigation identified the suspect and no injuries were sustained.

At roughly 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Drug Unit officers located the suspect in a parking lot in the Chemong Road and Milroy Drive area and took him into custody.  After the arrest, officers conducted two search warrants, including one at a residence in the Towerhill Road and Hilliard Street area.

Officers seized:

• 17 grams of fentanyl

• 91.7 grams of cocaine.

• Canadian currency

• Drug paraphernalia

The man was charged with:

• Point Firearm

• Robbery with Firearm

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl

• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Peterborough Man Charged With Drawing a Knife In an Elevator at a Tenant

A 50-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges including uttering threats while possessing a weapon, after an incident Monday evening.

At roughly 8 p.m., officers were called about an unwanted male in a Rogers Street and Hunter Street East area building.  The male had been spotted entering the building behind another tenant.  The tenant then found the male in the elevator, a confrontation started between the two with the unwanted man brandishing a knife and verbally threatening the tenant. 

The suspect then took off from the building. Officers searched the area and located a man matching the description given to police several blocks away and took him into custody. 

The man was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

• Fail to Comply with Probation Order x4

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.

At roughly 9:30 p.m., officers recieved a call of a collision near The Parkway and Lansdowne Street West. Officers spoke with the drivers and while speaking with one of them noticed signs of impairment. No one was injured in the collision.

At roughly 2:45 p.m. at George Street North and Murray Street, officers were directed to the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment.

The man was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

• Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

During the investigation, it was learned that the man was a prohibited driver.

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on June 10.

Peterborough Police Arrest Six People Wanted On Warrants In Unrelated Incidents

The Peterborough Police Service arrested six individuals who were wanted on outstanding warrants on Wednesday.

The warrants were for various offences, including assault, theft under $5,000, failure to appear, and failure to comply with probation.

Police say the arrests and incidents were not related.

Peterborough Man Arrested For Brandishing Knife At Peterborough Regional Health Centre Security

A 28-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after causing a disturbance and drawing a knife towards security at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) on Tuesday morning.

At roughly 3:45 a.m., a disturbance occurred at the PRHC’s Emergency Department. Officers learned that security had asked a man to leave the premises. The suspect became aggressive with security and brandished a knife before fleeing.

A man matching the description given to police was located walking away from the hospital. Due to the suspect reported to have a weapon, officers drew their Conducted Energy Weapons and initiated an arrest. The man complied with the officer's demands and was taken into custody. Security officers located a knife and turned it over to police.

The man was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

• Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by two probation orders with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Peterborough Man Arrested On Harassing Multiple Women at a Walmart From Early March

A 23-year-old Peterborough man is facing a criminal harassment charge following an incident on March 8.

At roughly 6 p.m. at the Chemong location Walmart, multiple female victims reported a man following them extremely closely through the store while possibly recording them or taking photos. The victims felt unsafe as a result. Peterborough Police, through an investigation, identified a suspect. 

An off-duty officer spotted the suspect in the same store parking lot and took him into custody with the assistance of Investigative Services on Monday. The suspect was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on June 3.

Three Minors Arrested and Charged With Breaking and Entering a Construction Site and Arson

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service have identified three individuals in connection with a series of break-ins at a construction site first reported Tuesday.

At roughly 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the site on Deline Street regarding reports of young people attempting to set a fire on the property. Officers located and arrested two males.  Through investigation, a third male was identified and arrested and Police determined that these youths were also involved in two other incidents (April 11 and April 20) at the same construction site.

As a result of the investigation,

A 12-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence – mischief X3

• Arson – Damage to Property

A 14-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence - mischief X3

• Arson – Damage to Property

• Obstruct Peace Officer (providing a false name)

A 16-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

• Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence – mischief X3

• Arson – Damage to Property

All the accused were released on a youth undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on June 9.
