Three Man Arrested After Drug Warrant Search Conducted In West End Residence

Three men are facing charges after a drug warrant was conducted by Peterborough Police on Friday.

As part of an ongoing investigation, officers with the Drug Unit and the Emergency Response Team searched an apartment in the Talwood Drive and Goodfellow Road area.

Officers took three people into custody and seized:

  • 23.2 grams of Fentanyl

  • 5.6 grams of Cocaine

  • 179 Hydromorphone pills

  • $4,000 Canadian currency

A 34-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Hydromorphone

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 - in Canada

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday.

A 62-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Fentanyl

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Hydromorphone

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 5.

A 35-year-old Gilmour, Ont. man was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court

The accused is currently subject to a release order to remain at their residence at all times.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in WASH court on Saturday.

Peterborough Man Charged With Impaired Driving After Running Red Light and Hitting a Pole

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after a single-vehicle collision involving running a red light and striking a pole, early Wednesday morning.

At roughly 5:30 a.m., officers were called to Lansdowne Street and River Road South about a vehicle that ran a red light before striking a pole. Officers located a man who was out of the vehicle and being treated by paramedics. In speaking with the man, officers noticed signs of impairment.

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on March 24.

Peterborough Man Given Eight Charges Including Driving With Suspended License and With Open Alcohol

A Peterborough man is facing eight charges after an incident including driving with a suspended license and with open alcohol on Tuesday morning.

At roughly 10 a.m., officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Aylmer Street and Townsend Street after the Automated License Plate Reader indicated the vehicle was registered to a deceased person. 

While speaking to the driver, the officer learned that the vehicle had been recently purchased. They also spotted open alcohol in the car and further learned that the driver was a suspended driver.

He was taken into custody and during a search of the vehicle officers seized:

  • Two cans of opened alcohol

  • 12 separate bags for a total of nine grams of cocaine

  • Open cannabis container

  • Cell phone

  • $1,000 in Canadian currency

  • Drivers license

  • License plates

The man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada

  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)

  • Use plate not in accordance with Act (Highway Traffic Act)

  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner (Highway Traffic Act)

  • Driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (Liquor License Control Act)

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Three Oshawa Teenagers Charged With Robbery After Ripping Keys From Woman's Hand And Fleeing With Their Vehicle

Three Oshawa teens are facing charges after a vehicle was stolen Sunday night.

At roughly 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Middlefield Road and Milford Drive area. They learned that owner of the vehicle had just arrived home when another vehicle stopped at the end of her driveway and two teens got out and demanded her keys. The woman attempted to flee into her house but the teens followed her and forced the keys from her hand.

Both vehicles then fled the area, heading toward Highway 115. Officers received word that OPP had attempted to stop the vehicles near Highway 7A but they fled police. OPP advised that they had located and stopped the two vehicles on the 401 westbound near Port Hope and three males had been taken into custody.

An 18-year-old Oshawa male was charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence

  • Dangerous operation

  • Flight from peace officer

A 19-year-old Oshawa male was charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence

  • Dangerous operation

  • Flight from peace officer

A 19-year-old Oshawa male was charged with:

  • Robbery with Violence

  • Dangerous operation

  • Flight from peace officer

All three were held in custody and appeared in court on Monday.

Man Being Sought After Attempting to Steal Woman's Necklace With Distraction In Costco Parking Lot

The Peterborough Police Service was made aware of an attempted distraction theft in a Costco parking lot on Friday evening.

At roughly 5:30 p.m., a woman in her 60s reported being stopped by a man in a vehicle while putting her groceries into her vehicle in the Costco parking lot near the gas bar. The man indicated that, as a religious tradition, he wanted to give the woman some jewellery to wear to support his ill mother, who was going into surgery. The woman agreed and the man put a necklace and a ring on her. While he was putting the ring on her finger, she noticed her own necklace in the man’s hand and took it back. At this point, the man drove away quickly.

The vehicle was described to the police as:

  • An older model four-door grey sedan

  • Two female passengers in the back

  • A male passenger in the front seat. He was in his 30s and had a beard.

The driver was described to police as:

  • In his late 40s to early 50s

Peterborough Man Arrested On Sexual Assault and Interference Charges On a Teenage Girl

A 52-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference on a child after an investigation on Thursday.

Officers were made aware of a 14-year-old girl who had not disclosed her whereabouts to her family. The family had concerns for her safety after finding conversations between the 52-year-old man and the 14-year-old girl.

During the investigation, officers visited various addresses in an attempt to locate both parties.

The 14-year-old was located inside a residence with the accused.

The 52-year-old man was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual Interference

  • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years Old

  • Luring a Person Under 16 Years Old

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Friday.

37-Year-Old Peterborough Man Facing Drug Trafficking Charges

A 37-year-old Peterborough man is facing drug trafficking charges after an investigation was conducted Wednesday.

On Wednesday, officers with the Drug Unit initiated an investigation and a suspect was arrested.

During a search after arrest officers seized:

  • 2.2 grams of Fentanyl

  • 23.6 grams of Cocaine

  • 2.8 grams of Methamphetamine

  • 58 Dilaudid pills

  • Canadian currency

  • Cell phones

  • Drug paraphernalia

  • Folding knife

As a result, a 37-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Hydromorphone

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court Thursday.

Peterborough Man Charged With Stunt Driving Going 47 Km/H Over the Limit

A 21-year-old Peterborough man was charged with stunt driving after a traffic stop on Tuesday evening for going 97 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone.

At roughly 11:20 p.m., officers on general patrol spotted a vehicle going 47 km/hr over the 50 kh/h speed limit. Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Clonsilla Avenue and Whitefield Drive.

The G2 driver was charged with stunt driving; their driver’s license was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Peterborough Woman Arrested After Throwing Rocks at Windows of Several Businesses and Throwing Hot Water At An Officer's Face

A 41-year-old Peterborough woman is facing charges, including mischief, after throwing rocks at multiple businesses’ windows and assaulting a police officer on Tuesday morning.

At roughly 10:35 a.m., officers were called to a strip mall in the Lansdowne Street West and Brealey Drive area after several calls about a woman refusing to leave a store and then threw rocks at the businesses’ windows.

An officer located a suspect matching the description given to the police. During the arrest, the suspect threw hot water in the officer’s face and punched them. The officer deployed their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) but it was ineffective due to the multiple layers of clothing the suspect was wearing. An off-duty officer and another civilian aided the officer and the suspect was taken into custody.

The officer was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment of burns.

The woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief

  • Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon

  • Assault Peace Officer

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.
