It was a special night at The Venue Friday, as Canadian rocker David Wilcox played his classics like "Riverboat Fantasy" and "Do the Bearcat" to a packed crowd. The evening was sponsored by WIND Mobile, which has recently opened two stores in Peterborough—one at Charlotte Mews, the other at 999 Lansdowne Street—and WIND Co-Founder Mike O'Connor was on hand to donate a $20,000 cheque to the Peterborough Festival of Trees. We spotted, among many others, The Wolf's Dani Stover, Brian Ellis and Ryan Lalonde doing the bearcat. Here's some (grainy) pics from the concert...

Theft of Ultralight Plane from Peterborough Municipal Airport
On November 28th 2012, OPP officers were dispatched to the Peterborough Municipal Airport in regards to the theft of an ultralight airplane. Sometime overnight, thieves entered a hanger which stored airplanes from the Aerostrike Aviation Ultralight Flight School. An ultralight plane and assorted equipment were stolen.
The stolen plane is described as a 2004 Airborne Aerostrike, model – 912XT, red and black in colour. Also taken were 2 sets of airplane wings not belonging to the stolen aircraft, a modified boat trailer used to transport the plane and some assorted aviation gear. Total value of the theft is approximately $92,000.00. The stolen plane did not have a set of wings attached to it at the time of the theft.
Thieves and potential purchasers of this stolen plane are advised that should these mismatched wings be used on this plane, the wings could become detached during flight.
Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to call Peterborough County OPP at (705) 742-0401 or Peterborough Northumberland Crime Stoppers at 1-800 222-TIPS (8477).

On Wednesday, December 5th, the YMCA will be hosting their first annual Chairs for Charity event beginning at 7 p.m. at the YMCA. Over 20 chairs will be auctioned off by Rusland's Auctioneers—each sponsored by local businesses, such as Rambling Rose, Gypsy Barn, Brio Gusto and many more. The chairs will be on display at the YMCA beginning Saturday, December 1st right through to the evening of the auction. The City of Peterborough Social Services Division has announced the 6th Annual Christmas Wish List for the Homeless.
To help support someone in need this holiday season, visit the Wish List and see how you can help. The list is updated regularily to fill the needs of those that need a little extra holiday cheer this season.
Items can be delivered to 178 Charlotte Street between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and must be dropped off (unwrapped) by Friday, December 7th.
