Downtown Clothing Store Skirt Doesn't Look To Be Reopening

We reported back in June that downtown clothing store Skirt was temporarily closed. They indicated on the front door that they would be reopening August 15th, but that date has long come and gone. Now the Skirt logo sign has been removed and the store is looking sadly vacant. Their phone lines are no longer working either. Anyone know its status or what is going in here now?

Flavour Fashion Launches Peterborough Inspired Fashion Line

The Flavour design duo Mike Watt and Bryan Reid have launched a new brand developed and manufactured in Canada called PTBO NORTHERN ORIGINALS. The line comes from their "love for our city, our community, our home, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada." Available exclusively at Flavour Fashion (383 George Street North) in downtown Peterborough, this collection has a "vintage heritage campy look combined with a current street sensibility." Ash's Style File Notes:  I found inspiration for my latest Style File at The Wednesday Market Opening Day. There were a lot of stylin' Peterborough Folk down there, but I chose Kris to be featured. His sporty, earthy style draws from a lot of clothing stores in Peterborough. His shoes are from S.O.S., pants from Plush Boutique, jacket (and bike) from Wild Rock Outfitters, and even his cup of coffee and knit cap are local. It's a delight to photograph someone who has mixed and matched from many of the stores in our downtown core.
What Kris says about his style... "It's functional, so as not to get caught in the bike."

Dawn To Dusk Fashion Photography Challenge For Peterborough Fashion Week

Dawn to Dusk is a Fashion Photography Challenge for Peterborough Fashion Week designed to bring a little couture to the Kawarthas. Each team, consisting of a Photographer, Designer, Hair Stylist, Makeup Artist and Fashion Stylist/Creative Director, as well as a model from the "Kawarthas Next Top Model" competition, will be assigned the morning of the event by D2D organizers. Teams will have just 12 hours (9am to 9pm) to complete a high fashion photo shoot. The resulting images will go on exhibit as part of Fashion Week and the winning team will be revealed at the STRUTT 4 Kids Fashion Show and receive a prize package worth thousands of dollars in media exposure, industry-specific training, and incentives. Ash's Style File Notes: Patrick McAuley is a downtown businessman, a Real Estate Agent who likes to stay away from the Basic Black Suit. Sure he has one, but he gravitates towards pieces with a bit more flare and steers clear of anything ill fitting. Today, he is wearing a Jacket, Vest and Shirt all from Plush Boutique. His trousers are from Top Man in Las Vegas. His tie brings in that little pop of Spring and fun that lets you know even before he smiles, that he's a pretty happy guy.
What Patrick says about his style... "I like a modern business look with British and pioneer influences. My inspiration is from The Beatles. I love that look."

Ash's Style File Notes: There's nothing more refreshing than being perfectly dressed for an activity. Ashton is kicking it 90s Grunge for a little afternoon leisure by the Otonabee.
What Ashton says about her style: "It's always supporting how I am feeling at the time. Right now, I've got these flowered Doc Martin boots that make me feel strong and this denim jacket from Sympathy for the Rebel, which has my Luke Perry and Jason Priestly Pins. All things 90s. My obsession. The outfit was topped off with a pair of 60s, bright green Sunglasses from Joie De Vie on George St., and an Egyptian Opal Ring from Tribal Voices. The ring reminded me of the Bob Dylan Song 'She belongs to me', which also infuses the look with some 60s vibes—the lyrics in that song 'She wears an Egyptian ring, That sparkles before she speaks'. It did sparkle and so did the waters of the River in Beautiful Peterborough."

Peterborough Model Mike Rodin Making Waves On Global Stage—And Harlequin Book Covers

Peterborough Model Mike Rodin, who recently strutted his stuff on the the Catwalks of Toronto Fashion Week 2014 for HD Homme, Filthy Haanz, Farley Chatto, Soia Kyo, Rudsak and Viggo, is making waves on the international stage.

Over the past few months, the Strutt Central model has booked campaigns for Old Spice, Ash City, Gucci Showroom, Hazelton Lanes and most recently as lead Actor in a Universal Studios Music Video "Oh".

In addition, Mike's face will grace the covers of more than 25 Harlequin Romance novels.    

After fulfilling a successful contract in Shanghai, China this past year, Mike's next stop is Europe. He will be jetting off to Milan in the next few weeks to embark on a modelling contract with The FASHION Model Management Milan a top European agency.

Ash's Style File Notes: I spotted her a couple of weeks ago at Hunter and George, and was very struck by her look. On that day, she was wearing a pencil skirt paired with this coat, beige hosiery, black ankle boots and bright red lips. • Her artistic expression really led me to think about the way people in this city express their personalities through the clothes that they wear. • This time of year is particularly hard to dress for, but I love that Franny is perfectly dressed for the weather. The staple green cardigan is from Sympathy for the Rebel, she says. • The bright colours peeking out under the wintery—and necessary—coat are a reminder that Spring is breaking through in little hints.
