Read MoreTrent-Severn Waterway To Open for Navigation In Stages Starting Friday, May 26th
/The Trent-Severn Waterway 2017 Navigation Season will open in stages starting on Friday, May 26th.
Increased precipitation over the past weekend coupled with forecasted rainfall has created the requirement for additional time to reduce water levels and flows to a point that ensures safe boating conditions across the system.
As of May 26th, locks 28 Burleigh Falls to 42 Couchiching will be open to boat traffic. All other lock stations will be open to land-based visitation but closed to boat traffic.
This staged opening of the Waterway will most importantly protect boater safety, and help to prevent further shoreline erosion and property damage experienced by local residents and businesses. Parks Canada will continue to work diligently to open the entire system for navigation and will open individual lock stations in stages as soon as it safe to do so.
All visitors are encouraged to exercise extra caution now with water flows less predictable and stable than during regular navigation season.
Below is a table listing the stations that will be open for navigation as of Friday, May 26th...

Read MoreThe Glorious Local Connection On Nashville's Run To Stanley Cup Finals
/Unless you've been living under a rock lately—and we do know there are some really nice rocks in our area—you'll have heard by now that the Nashville Predators, Captained by Mike Fisher, are on their way to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history.
What you might not know is the other epic local connection to the Predators: WWE NXT Champ Bobby Roode—who lives in Peterborough when he's not on the road—and his Glorious Domination theme song have been rocking the Preds and their fans throughout the playoffs.
The #Glorious movement is legitimately sweeping the social media Nation in all of its gloriousness, and fans are taking notice outside of the pro wrestling world.
Seriously, search #Glorious and #Preds and you'll find just as many hockey references now as you'll find wrestling references, as hockey (and beyond) starts to adopt this great theme song and hashtag of Roode's.
Nashville—aka "Smashville"—has become a hockey hotbed and if you're going to see a game live anywhere, it's pretty much unmatched in terms of atmosphere. Adding in anthem singers like Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Kelly Clarkson bring the crowd to life—and Bobby Roode's theme song keeps the crowd on their feet!
Even more meta-Peterborough, Dan O'Toole did this tweet a couple weeks ago...
If the #Glorious ride continues and the Predators win The Cup, we may know a couple guys who might show up to the parade.

Cobourg Cougars Are National Junior A Champs After Winning RBC Cup In OT
/Nick Minerva scored 8:21 into overtime for the Cobourg Cougars on Saturday night, capping a dramatic come-from-behind 3-2 win for the Cougars over the Brooks Bandits—and taking the 2017 RBC Cup on home ice.
The National Junior A Champions have a big Peterborough connection: former Pete Josh Maguire plays for them (Cobourg is his hometown), Brent Tully is the GM (the architect behind the team) and their coach is John Druce. For Druce, who played 10 seasons in the NHL, this is his first head coaching job—and quite a debut season behind the bench.

Centennial Fountain Opening For Season Delayed Until June 1st
/Due to the high and fast waters in Little Lake, the City of Peterborough has been unable to complete the repairs necessary for the seasonal start of the Centennial Fountain.
The fountain is typically serviced in time to have it running by Victoria Day weekend. The City says that conditions throughout the month of May have made it unsafe to complete the work, therefore causing a delay.
