Trent Business Students’ Association Hosts Women Speak Luncheon March 3

Lynn Zimmer, Anne Farquharson and Carol Lawless to discuss empowerment and confronting barriers

Three local business women will share their experiences and advice with Trent students during the semi-annual Women Speak Luncheon, organized by the Trent Business Students’ Association (TBSA) on Tuesday, March 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Alumni House, Champlain College at Trent University.

The Winter 2015 event features Lynn Zimmer, executive director of YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, Anne Farquharson, of Farquharson Piniero LLP, and Carol Lawless, communications and fundraising at the Health Services Foundation.

The Women Speak Luncheon, a panel-based discussion about gender issues in the professional world was launched by the TBSA in fall 2013 and aims to bring successful women to the University to discuss their experience as women and the challenges they have overcome to reach their goals. The series is designed to promote discussion, and to allow for guests and speakers to connect on a personal level.

The luncheon event is made possible through the Bonnie Patterson Leadership Development Grant. The grant was awarded to programs which “bring out their capacity to make a difference,” said Professor Patterson, former Trent University president and vice-chancellor.

This student‐led luncheon event is free to attend and open to all members of the Trent community. Media are invited and encourage to attend. To register and for more information, visit http://tbsa.biz/womenspeak/
