Take A Tour Of A Unique Antique Print Shop In Peterborough

Graphic designer/visual artist Jeff Macklin is an old school letterpress artisan based in Peterborough who is featured in a great new video (see below) by Kawarthas Northumberland.

In his antique print shop Jackson Creek Press—where he often conducts workshops and tours on his passion—Macklin does traditional relief printing from antique wood and lead type or blocks that he carves.

HIs proofing press was made in Switzerland in 1947.

Macklin has seven cabinets of lead and wood type that he uses to compose messaging for his letterpress.

In the age of digital technology, Macklin recognizes that printing is a dying craft in many respects but loves to "share the magic of pulling prints off a press" with people in his workshop.
