The housing market in Peterborough and the Kawarthas is on absolute fire right now. Houses, cottages, condos and other properties are for sale and sold in what seems like the blink of an eye. For the first time in awhile, it seems like bidding wars are becoming a regular occurrence! In short, our community is a hotbed of real estate activity right now.

Luckily for you, our community has its own version of a real life Love It or List It in Kawartha Lakes Construction. They’re a full service design/build firm who can make your construction dreams come true from the smallest of bathroom renovations that make life more manageable to full-on home and cottage builds from start to finish in even the most remote areas of our community.

KLC’s owner Scott Wootton created what was to eventually become the company back in 1988 after graduating from university. What began as deck and dock repairs evolved into small custom renovations and additions before taking the next major step.

Wootton recognized that being able to offer clients in-house design services before the actual build itself would close the circle, and in 2004 he brought on current Head of Design Christine Watts as his first designer.

With a team of employees that now numbers 30, Kawartha Lakes Construction is making its mark in the industry. Their BCIN certified designers take care of drawing and developing the plans using 3D software called Revit so clients can see the results before even getting started.

Their project developers guide clients through the whole process, gathering quotes from subtrades and suppliers, while advising on any and all products they would potentially choose in a new build/reno—everything from countertops and paint colour, to fixtures and tiles along with building materials.

On the frontlines putting everything together are the project leads and carpenters. When it comes to finishing touches such as plumbing and electrical, KLC have a roster of seasoned sub-contractors in their network to call upon.

Now more than ever, people’s decisions regarding their current and future homes are of the utmost importance. With fluctuations in the housing market—especially in our community—making the right decision whether it be to upgrade or start from scratch can be incredibly arduous.
