Build Your Own Day at Peterborough’s Modern Entrepreneur Experience This October

Peterborough entrepreneurs and small business owners can choose the workshops, connections and ideas that are most useful to them when the Modern Entrepreneur Experience returns for its third year.

The free event is back Tuesday, October 20th at The Roy in downtown Peterborough, bringing a half-day of workshops, networking, lunch and advice from local entrepreneurs and business leaders.

The event has sold out in each of its first two years.

This year, attendees can choose to take part in one, two or all three workshops, covering everything from telling better stories about a business to building an online business and using Peterborough’s local market as a competitive advantage.

The lineup includes Susan Tung, the entrepreneur behind Peterborough businesses including Mei Mei, Hanoi House and Electric City Catering. Her keynote will look at how being local can become a business advantage.

Megan Murphy, whose career has included acting, radio, filmmaking and the performing arts, will focus on storytelling and how businesses can use it to build connections and make their brands memorable.

Jesse Bateson, who has spent more than two decades working with leather and eight years running Solid Leather full-time, will lead a workshop on e-commerce and building a business around the kind of life you want to live.

There will also be a catered lunch, networking opportunities and prizes for attendees.

The Modern Entrepreneur Experience is being presented by the Business Advisory Centre and Community Futures Peterborough, with support from the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area, as part of Small Business Week 2026.

The event is designed to give local business owners practical ideas they can take back to their businesses, while creating an opportunity to connect with other entrepreneurs in the region.

Registration is free, with entrepreneurs and business owners able to sign up for the individual sessions that interest them.
