Downtown Peterborough Restaurant La Hacienda Receives Major Recognition in Ottawa for Authentic Mexican Cuisine

A Peterborough restaurant was honoured with a recognition from the Ambassador of Mexico for its work celebrating authentic Mexican cuisine and culture.

La Hacienda was recently presented with the Sello M, an official recognition for authentic Mexican cuisine abroad, during a celebration of Mexico’s Independence at the residence of the Mexican Ambassador in Ottawa.
The award was presented by Mexico’s Ambassador to Canada, Carlos Manuel Joaquín González, recognizing La Hacienda’s commitment to preserving and sharing Mexican ingredients, techniques and culinary traditions.

Sello M is presented through Mexican embassies and consulates around the world in collaboration with Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mexican Academy of Gastronomy.
For La Hacienda founder Sandra Lennox, the recognition marks more than 20 years of bringing the flavours and traditions of Mexico to Peterborough.
Sandra was joined in Ottawa by Anna Karina, representing the La Hacienda team, and her daughter Tiffany Lennox, representing the family that has supported her throughout the restaurant’s journey.
The restaurant says the recognition is a reflection of the many people who have been part of La Hacienda over the years, along with the customers who have supported the business and allowed it to continue sharing Mexican culture in Peterborough.
