Leon Kolarik the Hero as Petes Earn Overtime Win in Sault Ste. Marie

The Peterborough Petes picked up their third win of the season Saturday night, defeating the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 2-1 in overtime to improve to 3-6.

Leon Kolarik scored the game winner just 38 seconds into overtime, finishing a play set up by Cooper Dennis and Matthew Perreault.

The teams played a scoreless first period before Brady Smith opened the scoring for the Greyhounds midway through the second period, with Nolan Long picking up the assist.

The Petes found their equalizer just 16 seconds into the third period when Dennis scored on the power play, assisted by Carson Cameron.

Neither team found another goal in regulation, sending the game to overtime, where Kolarik secured the win for Peterborough.

Matthew Koprowski made 20 saves on 21 shots to earn his first win as a Pete. The goaltender was acquired from the Owen Sound Attack on October 1st.

The Petes went 1-for-7 on the power play, while the Greyhounds were held scoreless on four opportunities.

The Petes wrap up their three-game northern road trip Monday with a 2pm matinee against the North Bay Battalion. They’ll return home Thursday to face the Battalion again.
