Peterborough Police Investigating Incident Involving a Person Using Bear Mace and Striking a Young Girl

The Peterborough Police Service is investigating a Wednesday night incident involving a pedestrian using bear mace at a vehicle and striking a young girl on Wednesday night.

At roughly 9:30 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of George Street and Perry Street. When they arrived, they learned that a woman and her two children were waiting at the intersection in their vehicle and witnessed a teenage girl almost get hit by another vehicle. 

The woman cried out in surprise and sparked an argument with the pedestrian who then sprayed bear mace at the woman’s vehicle striking a young girl in the car according to the Police. The girl was treated at the scene by Peterborough Paramedics. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the teenager.
