The deal, announced Tuesday, October 20th by Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke, sends Marentette to his hometown team after parts of three seasons in Peterborough.

Originally selected by the Petes in the 10th round, 196th overall, of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, the Windsor native has appeared in 72 games with Peterborough, recording two assists.

Marentette also made an impact away from the ice through Marentette’s Mission, a community initiative he launched in November 2025. His efforts earned him the Petes’ 2026 Gary Dalliday Award for Community Service.

“I want to thank Thanasi for everything he’s done for the Petes and the city of Peterborough over the last couple of years,” said Oke. “He’s been a very hard worker, both on and off the ice, and has done a lot for the community through Marentette’s Mission. We wish him the best as he joins his hometown team in Windsor.”

The Windsor Spitfire will be in town on November 5th for their only visit of the season.

Meantime, Peterborough is back on the ice Thursday, October 22nd, hosting the Oshawa Generals at the Peterborough Memorial Centre to open the OHL’s annual Rivalry Week. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
