Thirteen-Year-Old Peterborough Male Arrested After Incident at Lansdowne Place Mall

A 13-year-old Peterborough male is facing charges of uttering threats and weapon possession after an incident at Lansdowne Place Mall on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Jan. 2, officers were called to the Lansdowne Place Mall over a disturbance between two groups of young people, which started outside the mall and ended inside after being broken up by security officers.

Upon arrival, officers learned that several young people had fled the area. They then located those individuals matching the description given to police a short distance away. One of the youths was identified as having threatened another teen and was taken into custody.

During a search after arrest, officers located and seized a knife in the teen’s backpack.  

As a result of the investigation, a 13-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Disobeying Order of Court

The accused is currently bound by a peace bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He has also been trespassed from the mall property.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 10.
