Peterborough Musicfest Announces Two New Acts For Their 2022 Summer Series

Peterborough Musicfest has announced two new acts that will perform at their 2022 summer series. 54-40 will light up Del Crary Park on July 27, with Alyssa Reid and Valley putting on a Show on Aug. 6.

Formed in 1980, 54-40 has been nominated for eight Juno Awards and was among the top 50 selling Canadian artists from 1996 to 2016.

They will appear on stage on July 27 at 8 p.m.

Alyssa Reid’s single ‘Alone Again’ topped charts in 2011 and she hasn’t stopped climbing since.

Her latest album, “ASHS” with over 10 million streams so far, is a testament to her artistic growth and evolution.

JUNO Award-nominated Valley is an alternative pop group based out of Toronto. The group picked up a 2020 JUNO Award nomination in the category of “Breakthrough Group of the Year’.

Reid and Valley will be at Del Crary Park on Aug. 6 at 8 p.m.

Del Crary Park Is All Revved Up For Meatloaf Tribute Band At Wednesdays Musicfest

Peterborough Musicfest presents Meat Loaf tribute band All Revved Up on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Backed by a seven-piece band based out of Long Island, New York, John Saxon Doboe will perform Meat Loaf’s high-energy signature songs like; Bat Out Of Hell, Paradise By The Dashboard Light, Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad, and I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That), which brought Meat Loaf a Grammy Award in 1994 for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo.

Beyond the talents of Doboe and the band, the night will feature costume changes, choreography and even comedy is in the mix as All Revved Up pays tribute to Meat Loaf’s extensive music catalogue produced and performed from 1977 to 2016.

If a storm occurs during a concert, a cancellation announcement will be made from the stage. Peterborough Musicfest will not issue a cancellation call until 7:45 p.m. - fifteen minutes before the scheduled start of 8 p.m. Rescheduling of weather-cancelled concerts is not guaranteed.

Attendees should bring their own lawn chair or blanket or can rent a chair for $4.

Stage Will Rock At Norwood Country Jamboree After 2 Years Of Silence

The Norwood Country Jamboree will take place from Thursday - Sunday at the Norwood Fair Grounds, after two years of cancellations due to COVID-19.

The fifth annual Jamboree will feature four days of talent.

Attendees can see the likes of Nicholas Campbell, Bart Lynch, Rod Neiman, Kim Stewart and many more.

Full weekend passes with rough camping can still be purchased at the gate for $100. There are free showers on site. The Norwood Lions Club will be serving breakfast Fri. - Sun.

Day passes for Thurs. - Sat. can be purchased for $25, Sunday pass is $15.

Less than one year since their last appearance in town, the Sam Roberts Band performed at Peterborough Musicfest at Del Crary Park Wednesday night.

Fans packed the park and were ecstatic to see the Sam Roberts Band return since their last appearance in August. The drive-in concert at the Peterborough Memorial Centre was cut short due to a storm.

After so much time without concerts, Sam Roberts told the crowd to “Throw your shame out the window and dance!”

Throughout the evening, the alternative rock band played fan favourites such as “Shapeshifters” and “Brother Down.” Roberts shared stories of playing Peterborough for the first time in 2002 at the since-closed nightclub, Sin City to a single attendee named Kevin.

The Sam Roberts Band marks the first Wednesday concert and third performance for the 2022 Peterborough Musicfest. The New Pornographers is the next act and performing next this Saturday at 8 p.m.

Peterborough Musicfest is a free event hosted every Wednesday and Saturday in Del Crary Park. Concert-goers can bring their lawn chairs or rent them for $4 at the event.

Peterborough Folk Festival Makes First Line-up Announcement And Is Looking For Volunteers

The Peterborough Folk Festival will return for its 33rd edition at Nicholls Oval, Market Hall and various downtown venues over 5 days from August 17 to 21.

The festival will kick off on August 17 at Market Hall with a screening of “We Can Do This”, a film created during the festival in 2021.

The first announcement of artists has been announced, with many more acts to be announced closer to the date.

The Folk Festival is seeking individuals that are willing to volunteer this year.

"It seems that it is more difficult to recruit volunteers and we are reaching out to the greater community to ensure we are able to host the event in the same manner as the community has grown to appreciate,” said Board Chair Malcolm Byard. "If we are unable to recruit at least another 125 volunteers the Festival may not look like it has pre-pandemic.”

Peterborough Musicfest Hosts Sam Roberts Band On Wednesday

Peterborough Musicfest presents Canadian alt-rockers Sam Roberts Band on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Del Crary Park.

As Sam Roberts, he released two subsequent albums – Chemical City in 2006 and Love At The End Of The World in 2008 – and, as The Sam Roberts Band, brought forth the studio albums Collider, Lo-Fantasy, TerraForm and All Of Us.

Roberts didn’t return empty handed from his trips to the Juno Awards. At the 2004 ceremony, his arms cradled four of the coveted statues – Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year and Artist of the Year for We Were Born In A Flame, and Video of the Year for Bridge To Nowhere. Then, in 2009, Roberts again won Artist of the Year and Rock Album of the Year for Love At The End Of The World.

Roberts’ Peterborough Musicfest appearance follows his storm-shortened August 29, 2021 headlining of the festival’s free drive-in concert at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Peterborough Musicfest is a free event hosted every Wednesday and Saturday. It is suggested that concert-goers bring their own lawn chairs, or rent a chair for $4 at the event.

Bailieboro's Jade Eagleson Will Return To His Old Stomping Grounds For Kawartha Downs First Ever Country Music Festival

Bailieboro - raised, country music star Jade Eagleson will return to his old stomping grounds at Kawartha Downs on July 3 for ‘Kawartha Country Music Fest’.

“I've driven by Kawartha Downs thousands of times, it’s right down the road from where I grew up so it's really cool to be playing there,” said Eagleson.

Eagleson grew up helping out on his grandparents farm, raising livestock and growing crop.

“Growing up I thought I was going to be a farmer, but I ended up not being too good at it.”

He notes that growing up in the country, he was surrounded by music and his upbringing heavily influenced the music he plays now.

“I’m so lucky to be from an area that has a great music scene that I got to be a part of,” he said. “My mom was a musician growing up and then there’s Jimmy Bowskill, he was a huge influence.”

Bowskill, who is also from Bailieboro, is a guitarist in popular rock band The Sheepdogs.

Eagleson will take the stage at Kawartha Downs with The Reklaws and Nate Haller.

“I think this is going to be one of my favorite shows,” he said. “I haven't been back home in a while.”

When asked if he thinks he might know a few people in the audience he says he thinks he will know everyone in the audience.

“I have so many friends and family members back home it will be so nice to see familiar faces in the audience.”

As for playing alongside The Reklaws, this isn’t a first for Eagleson and he says he’s looking forward to it.

“They’re such sweet human beings and their show is just magnificent the have such an energy.”

Joining the two Canadian acts on stage will be Nate Haller, from Waterloo.

“I can promise you now he’s going to hit it big,” said Eagleson. “He was made for this . He’s got that energy , the sky is the limit for that guy.” 

Kawartha Country Music Fest will take place at Kawartha Downs July 3. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the show starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are available online.

Peterborough Musicfest has announced their lineup for the 2022 summer concert series, on Wednesday at the Silver bean Cafe.

The summer will feature 16 concerts, on Saturdays and Wednesdays beginning at 8 p.m. at Del Crary Park.

Organizers, sponsors and the public gathered at the Silver Bean Cafe on Wednesday awaiting the line up announcement.

Havelock Country Jamboree 2022 Cancelled After 30 Years Future Of Festival Unsure

The Havelock Country Jamboree will not run in 2022, after celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2019, and plans for a 2023 jamboree are unclear.

The four day festival which attracts over 20,000 people annually and has been called Canadas largest live, outdoor country music and camping festival has not happened since 2019 due to COVID-19.

In its 30 year run the concert has seen the likes of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jason Aldean, Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Wynona Judd and Travis Tritt as well as showcased plenty of local talent.

On Saturday organizers announced on social media that the 2022 festival has been cancelled and plans for 2023 are uncertain.

They noted that, for those that had purchased tickets for the 2020 festival, the issue surrounding refunds is being discussed. They will be contacted when the issue is resolved.

Peterborough Musicfest To Announce Summer Concert Lineup Next Week

Peterborough MusicFest will be announcing their long awaited concert lineup for Summer 2022, their 35th season, on Tuesday, next week.

The public is welcome to attend the announcement at 10:30 a.m. at Silver Bean Café.

There will be 16 shows on the Fred Anderson Stage at Del Crary Park every Wednesday and Saturday, 8 p.m. start time.

The first show of the season will be on Canada Day, Friday, and the last on August 20.

In the past, the Peterborough Musicfest stage has hosted the likes of Dallas Green of City & Colour, Crash Test Dummies, Carly Rae Jepsen, Big Wreck, Tegan and Sara, Our Lady Peace, Tom Cochrane, The Reklaws, Kiefer Sutherland, Walk Off the Earth, Terri Clarke, Serena Ryder, Randy Bachman, Chad Brownlee, and many more.

Peterborough Musicfest is funded by corporate sponsorships (most of whom are small locally owned businesses), through multilevel government support, fundraising initiatives, and private donations and we remain steadfastly, and uniquely, free of charge for our audience.
