Let The Bad Times Roll: The Offspring And Simple Plan Are Coming To The Memorial Centre

The Offspring announced today that their Let the Bad Times Roll Tour is coming to Canada in late 2022, and will make a stop at The Peterborough Memorial Centre on Nov. 9, featuring support from Canadian rockers Simple Plan.

Photo courtesy of Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Frequently regarded as one of the best punk rock bands of all time, The Offspring have garnered a reputation for their unmistakable sound and social comment. The multi-platinum band first achieved worldwide success in the 90’s with the release of their album Smash, which sold over 11 million copies. Following Smash, they continued to release hit after hit, popularizing punk rock at a mainstream level.

Throughout their career, they’ve sold over a staggering 40 million albums, and toured arenas, and built a global fan base. Let the Bad Times Roll marks the band’s tenth studio album and third album produced by the legendary Bob Rock. True to the irreverence at the core of punk rock music, the band and lyricist Dexter Holland took a view to today’s cultural moments and didn’t shy away from creating topical material in this album.

Joining the band on tour are Montreal’s own Simple Plan, who have seen no shortage of success throughout their career.  The multi-platinum, Montreal-based band boasts worldwide sales topping 10 million, along with accolades including a 2005 Teen Choice Award, 2006 JUNO Fan Choice Award, and 2012 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award. Simple Plan have remained an international sensation for over 20 years with worldwide sales topping 10 million and over 1 billion streams across all streaming platforms. Most recently the #ImJustAKid trend on Tik Tok has over 4.3 billion views and the #ImJustAKidChallenge hashtag has over 590.9 million views and counting.

“We are so excited to finally be able to announce this Canadian tour with The Offspring, “ says Chuck Comeau of Simple Plan. “We know a lot of our Canadian fans have been waiting for a very long time for this and we’re absolutely thrilled to play for them all over the country. Canada is a very special place for our band, and we know these shows are gonna be amazing.”

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. online, by phone at 705-743-3561, or in person at the PMC Grant Thornton Box Office.

Shawn Austin And Elyse Saunders Will Close Out Peterborough Musicfest On Saturday

Peterborough Musicfest presents a Canadian country music double spin on Saturday, ending their 2022 season with Shawn Austin and Elyse Saunders.

A two time Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Rising Star nominee (2019 and 2021), Austin started out as independent artist before releasing his debut single Paradise Found in 2017. That song peaked at number eight on the Billboard Canada Country chart, followed in 2018 by the singles Get Me There and You Belong from his self-‐titled debut EP.

Austin’s momentum carried over into 2019 with the single What Do I Know, which peaked at number seven on Canada Country. The Little Things, released in 2020, was among the tracks on his third EP of the same name. Just this past June, Austin’s fourth EP Planes Don’t Wait was released, featuring the singles Tailgate To Heaven (featuring Chris Lane) and Get You – the former nominated for Single of the Year at the upcoming 2022 CCMA Awards.

With more than 23 million streams of his music to date, Austin has cemented his position as one of Canada’s fastest rising, and most diversified, Canadian country music stars.

Elyse Saunders, a Peterborough local, has fully realized her long ago set goal of being a major force on the country music landscape.

A four-‐time CMAOntario award nominee, including 2021 nominations for Female Artist of the Year and Rising Star, Saunders single Free was a Top Five finalist in the 2021 CBC Toyota Searchlight song competition. Her latest EP Free is nominated for a 2022 CMAOntario award along with the single Sunshine State of Mind that is in the running for Video of the Year.

On the strength of earlier released singles Wine Down and Sunshine State Of Mind – both of which garnered considerable radio air play and have helped bring more than 2.5 million streams her way – Saunders powerhouse vocals and highly engaging stage presence have seen her perform on some huge stages, including Boots & Hearts and the Sunfest Country Music Festival in BC.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. at Del Crary Park.

This event is completely free, with first come first served seating. it is suggested that concert goers bring a lawn chair, chairs will be available to rent at the venue.

We want to capture that magical again this year with the second instalment of The Barnyard Sessions. These intimate concerts are extraordinary interplays between musicians, music and audiences.”
