Guys & Dolls, presented by Adam Scott Performing Arts and directed by Geoff Bemrose, runs this week—February 19th to 22nd, at Adam Scott.

It's put on by Adam Scott Performing Arts—which offers students Grades 7 through 12 professional level performance opportunities in Musical Theatre, Dance, Drama and Music.

Art For Awareness Special Screening Of 'Erasing The Stigma' On Bell Let's Talk Day

This Tuesday, January 28th at 7:00 pm at Market Hall, Art For Awareness will be screening the DVD of their recent, original multimedia dance production Erasing the Stigma for local organizations. Art for Awareness (AFA) is a group of dedicated people committed to producing high-quality theatre with a social message. Erasing the Stigma addresses depression, anxiety disorders, postpartum depression, schizophrenia, addiction, eating disorders, the culture of technology/social media, suicide, the justice system, coping mechanisms, support workers, medication, and building hope through the use of real testimony via video clips, live music, original choreography and spoken word. The show seeks to normalize the struggles faced by people living with mental health issues in an educational, entertaining, and compassionate way. PTBOCanada Pics & Coverage: Peterborough Theatre Guild Presents A Candle On The Table

A Candle on the Table has begun playing at at the Peterborough Theatre Guild. Directed by Beth McMaster, it stars Linda Driscoll as Mrs. Bramson, Dani Breau as Mrs. Hodges, Margaret Schell as Miss Toliver, and Gillian Wilson as Mrs. Garrity. This story follows three elderly women as they share stories together while meeting for lunch on their first day at a senior citizen's home. Each woman has unique qualities about themselves and have all followed a different path that has brought them to this time in their life. Together, they share stories of their past and develop a bond amongst one another.

This play will be part of the Eastern Ontario Drama League One Act Play Festival in November. 

The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $7.50. Call 705.745.4211. For more info, click here.

Art For Awareness Presents Erasing The Stigma

Art for Awareness, a local theatre group, is getting ready for their first original production to hit the stage at the Adam Scott auditorium. Erasing the Stigma, a multimedia dance performance, runs October 4th, 5th, 8th and 9th at 8 p.m., and seeks to normalize the stories of those living with mental illness.  Arts for Awareness has partnered with Canadian Mental Health Association, The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario, the LYNX Early Psychosis Intervention Program, and the Human Services & Justice Coordinating Committee for this show. Tickets are available at Black Honey and at the door. If you saw their first show Next to Normal, you'll know how talented and passionate this group is!

PTBOCanada Pics & Preview: The Sound Of Music Kicks Off At Showplace

 

Showplace Performance Centre will be filled with the sounds of music over the next weeks as The Peterborough Theatre Guild presents The Sound of Music. Directed by Jerry Allen, the cast includes Kate Suhr as Maria, Paul Crough as Captain Von Trapp, Pam Birrell as Mother Abbess, as well as many other local talent from the area that have worked so hard to bring this show to life on a Peterborough stage.

 

 

 

PtboCanada attended Tuesday night's dress rehearsal and were simply wowed by the performance and talent portrayed on stage. Take the opportunity to support local theatre and take in this show that's suitable for the whole family. 

Showtimes are Friday, May 3rd, 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 4th, 8 p.m.; Sunday, May 5th, 2 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 8th through Saturday, May 11th, 8 p.m. Tickets are $25/adults, $22/seniors and $15/students.
