All The Deets On The 30th Annual Easter Seals Telethon This Sunday

The 30th annual Easter Seal Telethon takes place this weekend and will be broadcast live from Lansdowne Place Mall and CHEX TV studio’s this Sunday, March 3rd, on CHEX TV and TV Cogeco from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The annual Telethon provides an opportunity to get to know some Easter Seals families from the community and hear their stories, including local Easter Seals Ambassador, 8-year-old Aidan Cameron from Cobourg.
In addition, the Telethon will celebrate the year’s fundraising successes, recognize generous supporters, and raise essential funds that help children with physical disabilities and their families who need assistance.
“When you have a child with a physical disability, everyday can be a challenge,” said Coralie Jacobs, Senior 
Development Officer, Easter Seals Ontario. “The Telethon gives us a glimpse into the lives of Easter Seals families and how donations from our supporters make such a big difference in the quality of life for their child.”

Plan It Peterborough Meeting At KPR Office This Monday

There is a special public meeting at the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Office (1994 Fisher Drive), on Monday, March the 4th at 6:30 p.m.
This meeting provides a chance for Peterborough to suggest and discuss revisions to the City of Peterborough Official Plan, which covers everything from land use to growth management strategies.
"The meeting will include a brief presentation from City Planning Staff to present the findings of the Plan It Peterborough Official Plan Review public consultation program which commenced in 2011 and to highlight planning changes that have occurred since the last comprehensive review of the Official Plan."

Club Aragon (And Bobby Kinsman) Was The Place To Be Back In The Day In Peterborough

Once upon a time, Club Aragon (now Trentwinds) was Peterborough's ultra-modern nightspot. Bobby "Mr. Big Band" Kinsman and his orchestra was the house band there for many years, and the likes of Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington and Robert Goulet played gigs there. Kinsman's house band played there for 25 years, starting in 1947, and his band also played the Peterborough Arts and Water Festival from 1970 to 1976. Kinsman, who is in The Pathway of Fame, was known for giving money to charities and helping struggling musicians. Here his son Tom talks about how his legendary Dad came to Peterborough and what Club Aragon was like...

PtboPics & Coverage: Peterborough Cycling Club 2013 Open House

The Peterborough Cycling Club held their 2013 Open House Saturday night (February 23rd) at Wild Rock Outfitters. Roller racing was the hit of the night, provided by the West of Quebec Wheelers.
There were four fixed gear bicycles on rollers that were hooked up to a mechanical score board to show the racer's progress. As the evening progressed, the bracket of competitors were whittled down to the Final Four men and women.
