Dolce Vita Resto In Downtown Peterborough Is For Sale

Here's the letter the owners posted to their Facebook page:

Dear friends of Dolce Vita,

I want to send a personal message to all my close family and friends to let you know that we have decided to sell Dolce Vita.

This will in fact be our last weekend in business and I would be honored if you could make it out this weekend to help us celebrate all the memories weve captured over the last year and half. Sammy and I will be at Dolce Friday and Saturday to see off all of our loyal customers and of course to say goodbye to Dolce.

As heartbroken as this decision has left me broken-hearted...you all very well know, my life has changed quite a lot from last year... and obviously for the better.

Being a mother to our son Oziris is the greatest gift ♡♡.. I have chosen to make this wonderful change my main priority.

Dolce Vita was my first baby that I will always cherish and hold dear to my heart... but I have been blessed with a love greater than anything I could have imagined and i want to be there with him for all of the many firsts.

I want to thank everyone for all your support over the last year and a half. Please always know that Dolce Vita would not have been the same without all of you enjoying our food and believing on our vision.

Love you all!

Sincerely,

Jennifer.

Open Air Burning Is Not Allowed In Peterborough Unless You're BBQ-ing

In response to a number of recent complaints regarding open air burning within the City of Peterborough, Peterborough Fire Services advises residents that they will be strictly enforcing the requirements of the Ontario Fire Code as it pertains to Open-Air Burning (2.6.3.4.) this season.

Under the Ontario Fire Code, open-air burning is not permitted, except for the purpose of cooking food on a grill or barbecue. Once the food has been cooked, the fire is to be extinguished.

In accordance with the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, an individual convicted of an offence for contravention of the Ontario Fire Code is liable to a fine up to $50,000 and/or one year in jail.

Quentin Might Be The Most Adorable Animal Ever

[UPDATE: Jim Moloney, Manager & Curator at the Zoo, tell us Quentin has finished his quarantine and is now on exhibit!]

ORIGINAL POST:

Meet Quentin, a recent arrival to the Riverview Park & Zoo from Assiniboine Park & Zoo in Winnipeg. Quentin, a rather bashful looking guy, is a Sichuan Takin—a subspecies of takin (goat-antelope). As a new arrival, he's in quarantine as a precaution but should be out in the next two or three weeks for the public to see, the zoo tells us. Get this dude a Twitter and Instagram account so he can take selfies!

Dear PTBOCanada.com Readers,

Today (May 27th) marks the 4th anniversary of PTBOCanada.com—a local, independently owned digital media company born on May 27th, 2010. How time flies!

We want to thank all of you for your amazing support. We love this gem of a city—it truly is one of the best in Canada, if not anywhere (Exhibit A: Jason Dunn's love song to Peterborough). Peterborough is a way of life sotospeak. As that saying goes, "You can take the person out of the Peterborough, but you can't take the Peterborough out of the person." And as that famous tee says, "I'd Rather Be In Peterborough".

You constantly energize us with your amazing ideas, insights, humour and pictures you feed to us over social media, our tips line and our comments section.

The most unique people are right here in Peterborough—a beauty town on the Otonabee. You care about others, you're compassionate, you want to make a difference, you give a damn.

As our readership and reach continues to grow—along with our growing base of amazing advertisers who support us—we hope to continue to make a difference big and small in this community. PTBOCanada.com is about positivity, about uplifting others and this city, and bringing people to together to share ideas. City building. Community building. This is just the beginning. Look: Stunning Images Of The Old Mustang Drive-In

[UPDATE: June 5, 2016 -> Jay Callaghan tells PTBOCanada he visited the old drive-in site again recently and there is nothing left—"everything has been removed". Jay is glad he was able to capture these images when he did. So are we.]

---------------------

ORIGINAL POST

The iconic Mustang Drive-In near Peterborough was abandoned after being closed in Fall 2012. Peterborough photographer Jay Callaghan captured stunning images of the now run-down, vandalized property on a overcast day with ominous skies.

You can't watch a horror movie there now but you could certainly film one there. Check out Jay's pictures below and add your comments below or join in on our Facebook post...

Look At The Meteor Photographer Jay Callaghan Captured In The Skies Over Peterborough

Peterborough photographer Jay Callaghan—who captures beautiful nature images like these light pillars pics that went viral all over the world earlier this year—has done it again. He caught this meteor pictured below in the skies over Peterborough at 3:50 a.m. "I lucked out," Jay tells us. "I set the alarm for 2:45 a.m. and it was cloudy. I went back to sleep, set the alarm for 3:45 and it was clear. Saw 3 meteors in 20 minutes."
