“We all have a role to play in this community challenge," says Mayor Bennett. "While the program is aimed at the children in our communities, we can all be more active to serve as examples to young people and to encourage them to be more active. That’s why I’m excited to be out here, having fun on the basketball court with these students today. Even a few minutes of play every day can make a big difference over the long term.”
County Warden J. Murray Jones adds: “Children don’t need to be involved in organized, structured activities to be active. It can be as simple as getting outside and riding a bike or playing a game of road hockey with neighbouring kids. Making it fun will encourage kids to take part.”

Peterborough Baby Is At Sick Kids Hospital With Form Of Skeletal Dysplasia
/Peterborough parents Kristen Bate and Adam Godfrey are going through a very difficult time right now as their baby girl Violet was born February 3rd with a form of skeletal dysplasia. She was born unable to breathe fully on her own, and transported to Sick Kids in Toronto.
Kristen and Adam have three other children in Peterborough, and are lacking funds to support their children at home and be able to visit Violet for an extended period of time in Toronto.
Kristen tells PTBOCanada she is the only one in Toronto now while Adam looks after the kids, but they both plan to be with her early next week.

They have been accepted into Ronald McDonald House, but still have additional costs. A GoFund me page has been set up by the family, and any help is much appreciated to help them during this difficult time.
Kristen and Adam are hoping little Violet can come home to be with her brother and sisters in the next few weeks, and now they are waiting for results from a CT scan done on their baby girl.

Noble Tech Inc. Announces $20-Million, 50,000-Square-Foot Clean Tech Algae Plant In Peterborough
/Peterborough-based start-up Noble Tech, parent company to Noble Purification, has announced plans for a $20 million, 50,000-square-foot production facility, offering sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment, nutritional and pharmaceutical sectors while expanding Ontario’s green economy.
Noble Tech Inc. founder Adam Noble announced the plans for the company’s growth Monday (February 8th) at Trent University—with a goal to become the premier tenant of the new Trent Research and Innovation Park.
“We see algae differently. We want to create a more sustainable future," Noble says. "We are going to change the way the world treats water and we want to do that right here in Peterborough."
Noble Tech Inc. is a next generation bioproducts company with a goal to create a more sustainable future. It researches, cultivates and markets unique microalgae strains and their derivatives for various market applications from wastewater treatment to nutritional products, and eventually, pharmaceuticals.
Noble Tech plans to begin construction on its new facility in Spring 2017. The new facility will have a capacity to produce more than 10,000 tonnes of algae per year. The timing is dependent on the construction of servicing to the Trent Research and Innovation Park by the City of Peterborough and Trent University, and the City of Peterborough finalizing the management structure for the park.
Noble currently employs six people with plans to grow its team to 12 people in 2016. When Noble’s new research and production facility is completed, its workforce is projected to increase to 25 positions.
