Downtown Event Peterborough Pulse Wins National Award For Its Innovation
/Peterborough Pulse is now getting recognized across the country as an innovative and engaging event. Indeed, Pulse took top honours at the 2017 Business Improvement Area National Conference hosted by the Ontario BIA Association in Toronto on April 3rd, winning the award for Large Special Events & Promotions.
“Pulse has become one of our most exciting events and it’s wonderful to be recognized by our peers from BIAs across the country and show what Peterborough has to offer,” says Terry Guiel, Executive Director of the Downtown Business Improvement Area.

Pulse is a vibrant, playful and active car-free corridor through the heart of Peterborough. For one summer day, the streets are filled with cyclists and roller-skaters, families pushing strollers, karate and fencing demonstrations, art and music, and more.

Peterborough Microgreenery Startup Tiny Greens Reveals Downtown Location
/Tina Bromley, owner of Tiny Greens and winner of Win This Space, revealed her storefront location in downtown Peterborough on Wednesday, April 5th. Tina has been busy getting her space ready at 431 George Street North.
“I am really excited to take my business to the next level and show Peterborough what I can create in downtown,” says Bromley. “I am looking forward to seeing customers enjoy healthy, local and sustainable products all year round.”

After winning the Win This Space competition in February, Tiny Greens is receiving a lease to a downtown storefront free for 12-months, plus additional prizes from locals businesses that will assist Tiny Greens.
“It is great to see someone like Tina who brings such positive energy and enthusiasm to our downtown and be a part of our family,” says Terry Guiel, Executive Director of the DBIA. “We are thrilled to see the success of Win This Space and grateful to our partners and sponsors.”

The Win This Space program is possible thanks to many sponsors, including 12 business and community organizations that are each sponsoring a month of the lease. April is provided by Peterborough Distribution Inc. and Save On Energy, who will work with Tina to renovate the space with the latest energy-saving initiatives.
Tiny Greens is a microgreenery which plans to create a healthy hub in downtown Peterborough. It is a space to sell local ready-grown year-round microgreens, vegetables, herbs as well as other foods from local farmers in the grocery aisle. Tiny Greens has been in business for two years and has earned a reputation for having high-quality products for a growing market.

7th Annual Kawartha Spring Bridal Show Sunday, April 9th At The Venue
/The Kawartha Spring Bridal Show is returning to The Venue on Sunday, April 9th for its seventh year.
There will be more than 25 local vendors and over $5,000 in prizes donated by the 2017 sponsors. The event will include a fashion show featuring gowns from Antoinette Bridal Boutique, suits from Moores Clothing, and model hair and makeup provided by Euphoria Wellness Spa.
The prizes up for grabs include: a $1,500 Honeymoon Travel Voucher from Carlson Wagonlit Travel to be used towards any travel with them, including departures from the Peterborough Airport; $1,500 towards a wedding dress from Antoinette Bridal Boutique; a Wedding Day Bride Package from Euphoria Wellness Spa; and a Reception Hall Rental from The Venue. There will also be many more door prizes from the Bridal Show Vendors.
Catia Skinner, CEO of the Kawartha Entertainment Group Inc., owner of The Venue, says they will be donating 10 percent of the proceeds from the ticket sales to the Easter Seals Peterborough. “The Kawartha Entertainment Group Inc. is a strong supporter of giving back to the community—the Easter Seals Telethon is an important fundraising event for us because of their commitment to helping children and youth with physical disabilities,” says Catia.
The wedding show goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Venue (286 George St. N.) April 9th. Tickets are $10.

New 310-Page Paperback Book Looks At Peterborough's Rich Golf History
/There is a new book being released by Ed Arnold and Roger Self about the city’s golf history and some of its greatest players.
Called Peterborough’s Golf Story . . . and more, this 310-page paperback features the story of the city’s golf courses and many of its best players. It also includes 20 pages of black and white photos and more than 20 pages of city golf tournament statistics over the years.

The book will be available after the book launch that takes place at Kawartha Golf & Country Club Wednesday, April 12th from 4 to 6 p.m.
