One thing's for certain: This is one summer wedding these guests will never forget.
The Kawartha Spring Bridal Show is returning to The Venue on Sunday, April 9th for its seventh year.
There will be more than 25 local vendors and over $5,000 in prizes donated by the 2017 sponsors. The event will include a fashion show featuring gowns from Antoinette Bridal Boutique, suits from Moores Clothing, and model hair and makeup provided by Euphoria Wellness Spa.
The prizes up for grabs include: a $1,500 Honeymoon Travel Voucher from Carlson Wagonlit Travel to be used towards any travel with them, including departures from the Peterborough Airport; $1,500 towards a wedding dress from Antoinette Bridal Boutique; a Wedding Day Bride Package from Euphoria Wellness Spa; and a Reception Hall Rental from The Venue. There will also be many more door prizes from the Bridal Show Vendors.
Catia Skinner, CEO of the Kawartha Entertainment Group Inc., owner of The Venue, says they will be donating 10 percent of the proceeds from the ticket sales to the Easter Seals Peterborough. “The Kawartha Entertainment Group Inc. is a strong supporter of giving back to the community—the Easter Seals Telethon is an important fundraising event for us because of their commitment to helping children and youth with physical disabilities,” says Catia.
The wedding show goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Venue (286 George St. N.) April 9th. Tickets are $10.
A Peterborough couple has received a tremendous honour: Hugh Whitaker and Jennifer Moher both finished in the Top 50 of an International wedding photography competition that JuneBug Weddings ran of the Best Wedding Photos of 2016.
The competition was judged by esteemed press from across the world. There were submissions from over 50 countries and more than 9,000 images were entered. Hugh and Jennifer were one of only 5 photographers from across Canada in the Top 50.
"They just announced the winners at the beginning of this year," Hugh Whitaker tells PTBOCanada. "We’re really happy to each have one of our images amongst those selected. It’s a huge honour for us to be listed amongst so many inspiring photographers."

Peterborough couple Jeff and Natalie just tied the knot last weekend, and the bride and groom had an epic Stanley Cup cake created for their nuptials.
We're not kidding, look at this Cup cake...
"They are two huge hockey fans, with hockey being the main link that brought them together to this special day," Peterborough cake artist Margaret Camp tells PTBOCanada of creating this winner. "It just seemed fitting then, that they should have the ultimate prize for their favourite sport as their wedding cake."
"We are both huge hockey fans and players," says Natalie, who is currently honeymooning in Hawaii. "We have played internationally many times together with a doctors hockey team. Jeff cheers for San Jose—and was very happy they won on our wedding night—and I cheer for Montreal."
The couple just graduated as doctors from medical school and are both originally from Peterborough. They are going to be doing their residency training in family medicine in Brantford for a couple years, and hope to return to the Peterborough area after the rest of their training.
The hockey themed wedding also included a half San Jose/half Montreal garder, and Jeff being officially introduced to Natalie's family with a custom Montreal jersey from her brothers.
"It was such a thrill to put this cake together from scratch, and it's the tallest cake I've made to date!" Margaret tells PTBOCanada.
Tori thought it was just going to be a fun photo shoot in downtown Peterborough with her boyfriend Tom. But Tom—and photographer/co-conspirator Chance Faulkner—had other plans.
