PTBOCanada Hits 60,000 Social Media Fans On Our Platforms
/In a terrific milestone to reach as we mark the end of 2019, PTBOCanada has hit 60,000 social media fans between our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.

PTBOCanada was born on Twitter—@Ptbo_Canada—in October 2009, and the website PTBOCanada.com launched May 27th, 2010. Then came Facebook, and after that Instagram.

League Leading Petes Host Reigning OHL Champions This Saturday
/The league leading Peterborough Petes—currently ranked in the Top 10 in the Canadian Hockey League—are back in action after the holiday break, hosting the reigning OHL Champion Guelph Storm on Saturday, December 28th at 7:05 p.m. at the Memorial Centre.
The Storm currently sit second in the OHL’s Western Conference with a 19-8-1-3 record. Former Pete Pavel Gogolev leads Guelph in scoring with 51 points in 31 games, and Saturday’s game will be his first in Peterborough since being traded to the Storm in December 2018.

Saturday’s game marks the first opportunity that fans have to redeem their Holiday Flex Pack vouchers. Holiday Flex Packs—which include four regular bowl flex vouchers to be used between December 28th and January 30th, two Petes mugs, and a signed program—are still available for purchase online, at the Petes office, or in The Petes Store for $59.99 plus tax.
Single game tickets for all Petes regular season home games are now on sale at the PMC Grant Thornton Box office in person, by phone at (705) 743-3561, or online.

Peterborough Petes Are First Team To Reach 50 Points In OHL Standings This Season
/The Peterborough Petes became the first team to reach 50 points in the OHL standings this season with a 4-1 home win over the Oshawa Generals on Thursday night (December 19th), taking a 3-0 season series leading against their East division rivals.

With a 24-7-1-1 record, the Maroon and White head into the holiday break in first place and on a four game win streak.
Cameron Butler (10), Liam Kirk (16), and Zach Gallant (17) all scored on the power play, with Declan Chisholm (7) adding an empty netter. Chisholm, who is second in the OHL among defencemen with 40 points, added two assists. Hunter Jones earned his league-leading 21st win of the season, stopping 27 of 28 shots including two penalty shot attempts.

100 Women Peterborough Raised $10,000+ In Under One Hour For Lakefield Animal Welfare Society
/On Tuesday (December 17th), the 100 Women Peterborough group raised $10,000+ in under one hour for Lakefield Animal Welfare Society at their meeting held at the Venture North Building lobby in downtown Peterborough.
“I am speechless, overwhelmed, humbled and thankful to be recognized by 100 Women Peterborough,” says Janet Evans, Manager at Lakefield Animal Welfare Society.

The Lakefield Animal Welfare Society is a non-profit organization which was established in 1992 by a group of women with a goal of rescuing stray, injured and abused animals in the area. They work hard to find homes for even the most difficult to place animals.
The Lakefield Animal Welfare Society is able to help hundreds of animals a year through their programs, and rely entirely on private donations to operate their organization.

“The organizers are so excited to wrap up another incredible year," says one of the founding members of 100 Women Peterborough, Wendy Hill. “We are very lucky to have an incredible community of women come together to support organizations such as the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society—we are making a difference."
One hundred percent of the funds raised by the membership are donated to four non-profit organizations determined by the membership throughout the year. Women that are interested in joining the group are encouraged to reach out via the website here.

Instagram Celebrity Dog Owen The Griff Will Be On Hand At Humane Society Night Petes Game
/The CHL-ranked Peterborough Petes are excited to welcome the Peterborough Humane Society (PHS) as the game’s charity partner for their game against Oshawa this Thursday (December 19th).
They’ll be hosting a silent auction in the north lobby of the PMC with items up for grabs including two dog hampers and a cat hamper which are all filled with treats for furry friends. Owen the Griff, a celebrity dog from Lakefield that has nearly 110,000 followers on Instagram, will be on hand for photo opportunities in the north lobby during the first intermission, as well as making a pre-game appearance.

Fans are encouraged to bring in canned cat and dog food, which will be donated back to the Peterborough Humane Society. PHS will also host a chuck-a-puck, with the winning fan taking home a team autographed Petes jersey.
Pre-game, the Petes will welcome and celebrate the Jones family who have recently adopted a dog from the Humane Society. After losing their beloved dog earlier this year, the family was excited to bring Mocha into their home.

Extreme Cold Alert Issued For The Peterborough Area
/With extreme cold in the forecast, the One Roof Community Centre drop-in hours will be extended to 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th to provide daytime shelter from the cold, the City of Peterborough says in a release.
One Roof Community Centre, which provides services on behalf of the City and County of Peterborough, is located at 99 Brock Street. Its normal operating hours are noon to 7 p.m. daily. For a full description of meals and other services that One Roof provides, click here.

Under its agreement with the City, One Roof extends its operating hours when the temperature reaches -15C, and Environment Canada’s forecast for Peterborough shows temperatures falling to -25 with windchill in the afternoon on Wednesday and -20C on Thursday.

Peterborough Petes And Peterborough Police Service Announce Community Partnership
/The Peterborough Petes have announced a new community partnership with the Peterborough Police Service, whereby Emergency Response Team members will act as mentors and role models to players.
The initiative, called Petes and C.O.P.S. (Community Oriented Partnerships and Support), will see players on the Petes roster matched with members of the Peterborough Police Service (PPS) Emergency Response Team (ERT), along with other members across multiple sections of the PPS.
