50-Year-Old Peterborough Man Charged With Impaired Driving

A 50-year-old Peterborough man is facing an impaired driving charge after officers conducted a traffic stop in Peterborough Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the Peterborough Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen that a man had driven away from a business and was possibly impaired.

Officers on general patrol in the area of Reid Street and McDonnel Street spotted a vehicle matching the description given to police and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver, officers noticed signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 17.
