One of the night's notable storylines was the return of former Pete Thanasi Marentette, who scored Windsor's opening goal against his former team in the second period.

Marentette was traded to his hometown Spitfires on October 20th after playing 72 games with the Petes over parts of two seasons, including two games this season without recording an OHL goal. He was visibly fired up after finding the net Thursday and now has three goals in six games with Windsor.

The Petes opened the scoring in the first period when James McMurray found the back of the net, assisted by Calum Hartnell and Matthew Perreault.

Marentette tied the game midway through the second period before Michal Svrcek gave Windsor its first lead on the power play. The Spitfires added to their advantage 56 seconds into the third when Max Brocklehurst scored another power play goal.

Camron Hankai pulled Peterborough within one with a goal assisted by Aiden Young, just before the halfway mark of the period. Adam Novotný then tied the game on the power play with 4:44 remaining, assisted by Lucas Karmiris and Adam Levac.

Windsor would regain the lead just 1:37 later though, when Andrew Robinson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Windsor goaltender Michael Newlove also came into the game chasing a piece of franchise history. After recording three consecutive shutouts, he had a chance to tie Michael DiPietro's franchise record of 209:23 for the longest shutout streak. Newlove's run ended at 193:43, falling 15 minutes and 40 seconds short of the mark.

Matthew Koprowski made 25 saves on 29 shots for Peterborough as the Petes outshot Windsor 26-29 and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Spitfires converted three of their five power play opportunities.

Petes Scoring: James McMurray (1G), Camron Hankai (1G), Adam Novotný (1G), Calum Hartnell (1A), Matthew Perreault (1A), Aiden Young (1A), Lucas Karmiris (1A), Adam Levac (1A).

Next action for the Petes is Sunday when they host the Niagara IceDogs in what will be their 70th anniversary game.
