Rye was tested often and early in the first period as he stopped all 11 shots that came his way. Peterborough could not find the back of the net with their 14 shots and it remained scoreless after one period.

Peterborough opened the scoring late in the second period as Leon Kalorik got the puck after a faceoff win in the offensive zone. He tried to beat the Generals goaltender on the edge and tucked the puck behind him for a 1-0 lead. Oshawa tacked on another seven shots on Rye but the Peterborough netminder stopped them all.

The third period saw Peterborough get another 14 shots to Oshawa’s seven with Rye stopping them all. Kalorik deposited an empty-net goal later in the frame to give the Petes a 2-0 shutout win. Rye stopped all 25 shots for his first career shutout for a road win over their rivals.

The Petes have a date with the Kingston Frontenacs on New Year’s Day this Thursday at the Peterborough Memorial Centre for 2:05 p.m.
