Disc Golf Tournament at Escape Maze Raises Funds For Youth Program and Local Food Bank

Disc golfers, puzzle enthusiasts and community supporters are invited to the Escape Maze’s Otonabee Disc Golf Course on April 4 for a charity tournament combining sport and adventure; raising funds for the Ontario Disc Sports Association’s Little Hyzers youth program.

“This event is really about community,” says Escape Maze organizer Angelica Haggert. “Disc golf is one of the most welcoming sports out there, and the Little Hyzers program makes sure kids can participate regardless of financial barriers. Pairing that with food donations for Kawartha Food Share means we’re supporting both youth recreation and families in our own community.”

Registration is $20 per player, with all proceeds supporting Little Hyzers youth programming. In addition to tournament play, participants and spectators are encouraged to bring canned food donations for Kawartha Food Share, helping provide essential supplies to local food banks across the region.

"Capitalizing on the success of previous fundraisers in the GTAH, Missed Mando is excited to bring this initiative to eastern Ontario to serve a new population of players," says Missed Mando podcaster Sean Galbraith. "We want disc golfers to have a wildly hilarious, yet challenging fun experience, while also supporting youth participation in this easily-accessible sport."

Throughout the day, Escape Maze will also offer additional fundraising activities, such as drop-in laser tag sessions and afternoon escape room bookings with proceeds going toward the Little Hyzers program, giving visitors extra ways to participate in the cause.

The tournament is designed to be accessible to players of all experience levels, from seasoned competitors to newer players looking to enjoy a casual round for a good cause.

Experience: A Friday Night Trying To Get Out Of The Sheriff's Office In Escape Maze

It was a Friday night and the whole gang was locked away in the Sheriff's Office. There was Sure-shot Scott, Eastbound Em', Pistol Parrington, Jail-Break Julie (aka our Julie Morris) and Hawkeye Holt (aka me, Evan Holt).

We knew we only had 45 minutes before the Sheriff returned to his office, so despite being locked away in two separate jail cells, we had to work together to make our escape. Our eyes darted around the room and we started finding clues (some easy to find, some not so much).

Each solved puzzle rewarded us with a clue that we used to get one step closer to the final door to our escape. Sweat started dripping from my brow. How long had it been since the Sheriff stepped out? What if he came back early? All I knew is that busting out of here would be a great tale to tell the friends over a cold drink.

Will you attempt to escape as well? Make sure to try this amazing live interactive game with friends.

I also hear "Allin's Orchard Room" is open now and another new room "The Shaft" opens on October 9th. Maybe our paths will cross and you can tell me all about your daring escape, too.

Escape Maze Live Interactive Game On Peterborough Farm Is Historical Thriller

Once you enter into the dimly lit room, you will hear the lock on the old wooden door click shut behind you. You and your friends now only have 45 minutes to figure out how to escape! Scattered around the room are a loosely connected set of clues that you will have to decipher to get you one step closer to freedom. Some take math skills, others are physical puzzles and brainteasers. Communication skills are key as you help each other try and make some sense as to where to start or make use of the evidence. Various lockboxes may contain the next step, but how do you get into them to begin with?

Welcome to Escape Maze, a great new cerebral challenge located here in Peterborough created by Fred Preddy and his sister Jake Walling. There are two escape rooms: The Gold Rush Room (for 2 to 6 players) and the Old Saloon (for 2 to 8 players) are themed upon the 1866 gold rush that came to Eldorado, Ontario. Not only will you get a brief local history lesson but will also have the opportunity to dress the part.

Not sure if you'll feel comfortable being confined in the room? Don't worry, you can always use the "Emergency Key" attached to the door knob to let you out (and there is video surveillance to ensure no one gets hurt). The suggested age range is 13 years old and up, and no electronic devices will be allowed into the rooms.
