A baby fox was in the middle of the road Saturday night on Lansdowne street. Cars saw it and slowed down to avoid hitting it—as any normal, compassionate person would do. One did not, and in fact appeared to speed up, as you'll see in the Facebook post we screen-captured below from someone who witnessed it. And now, that baby fox is dead. Four words for the person driving that car: Karma is a bitch.

[UPDATE: Jim Moloney, Manager & Curator at the Zoo, tell us Quentin has finished his quarantine and is now on exhibit!]
ORIGINAL POST:
Meet Quentin, a recent arrival to the Riverview Park & Zoo from Assiniboine Park & Zoo in Winnipeg. Quentin, a rather bashful looking guy, is a Sichuan Takin—a subspecies of takin (goat-antelope). As a new arrival, he's in quarantine as a precaution but should be out in the next two or three weeks for the public to see, the zoo tells us. Get this dude a Twitter and Instagram account so he can take selfies!

Too cute, and apparently this mall rat, er, duck, has been coming back for several years... She lives right outside the Dancing Blueberries, and lays her eggs here each year.

@Ptbo_Canada have you seen the duck at Peterborough Square? It looks like it has a nest started in a flower pot. pic.twitter.com/CPQqZ4eUb9

@ferrioinstereo @Ptbo_Canada Matilda! She's come back the last 3 years to nest in that planter.

This is pretty much the cutest picture ever. The photo was captured by a student zookeeper at Riverview Park & Zoo in Peterborough as the joey was peeking its head out of its mother's pouch. Mother and joey are new arrivals from the Assiniboine Zoo in Winnipeg.

We are devastated to report the Chemong Moose is dead. The moose that has endeared itself to so many this week and has become the talk of the town—and county—had to be put down by the MNR. The reasons why are explained in these tweets below from Examiner reporter Sarah Deeth.
The Chemong Rd. moose? It's dead. The MNR destroyed it after the moose displayed erratic, dangerous behaviour. RIP, Chemong Rd. Moose.
— Sarah Deeth (@SarahDeeth) May 2, 2014
MNR official said they made many attempts all day to force moose, which was covered in ticks & emaciated, back into the woods.
— Sarah Deeth (@SarahDeeth) May 2, 2014
Moose was unafraid of humans, traffic, appeared disoriented. MNR on scene apparently concerned it had brain worm.

The talk of the town today is this moose, who is chilling out in fields on Chemong Road near Bridgenorth.

Jim Moloney, Manager and Curator at Riverview Park and Zoo, tells us these little guys aren't presently on exhibit as their "animal care staff are working with them so we can use them in our education programs." Man, everyone needs to meet these little guys.

Yes, Gobi (a 6-year-old male) and Zaya (3-year-old female) definitely seem to dig Winter. Look at these adorable pics of them being all affectionate and playful taken recently at Riverview Park & Zoo. It starts with a snow beard and ends with a snow bath. Someone get these two a Twitter account like the sloths Porsche and Ferrari have @PtboSloths!

Two new reindeer are settling in nicely at the zoo. Take the kids and go see 'em. Santa's helpers are ready.
