4th Line Theatre announced on Thursday that Rebecca Auerbach and J.D. Nicholsen's Christmas Comes to Mind: A Night of Story & Song is now available to stream online.

Filmed on December 3, 2021 at the Millbrook Cathedral, 40 King Street West, the live show is now available to view online for $15.

Actors and vocalists like Beau Dixon, Melissa Payne, J.D. Nicholsen and Kim Blackwell make an appearance in the show.

Kim Blackwell, Managing Director of the show., says the show demonstrates ‘togetherness, hope, love and belief in something bigger than ourselves.’

Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy's Celtic Family Christmas Had The Memorial Centre Tapping Their Toes All Night Long

Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, along with their family and friends, put on an electrifying night of Celtic music at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Friday Night.

All seven children made an appearance on stage, ranging in age from 3 to 16.

While the night was mainly celtic music, Donnell noted that his band members from all over the world have influenced his music style.

Notes of jazz, Latin music and of course Celtic tunes could be heard throughout the night.

Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy Rosin Up Their Bows For A Celtic Family Christmas At The Peterborough Memorial Centre

Natalie MacMaster And Donnell Leahy, joined by their children, will hit the stage at the Peterborough memorial Centre for A Celtic Family Christmas on Friday.

Last year their annual Christmas show was aired online due to COVID-19.

The two say this will be their first time performing in-person together in about two years.

“It doesn’t feel right when you’re not doing what it feels like you’ve been called to do,” said MacMaster. “It doesn’t feel right not to do something you’ve done for decades. It’s like a little part of you dies a little bit, it’s dormant. So when it happens again your really feel rejuvenated. I feel like God gave me my wings back ,like I can fly again. I didn’t know how much I missed it.”

Friday nights show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will feature some traditional and original music with the family, as well as special numbers with their own incredible band and personal stories and candid moments from the MacMaster/Leahy setting.

“People have asked us all our lives ‘what’s it like at your place at Christmas time?’, said Leahy. “You know what it is - it’s a crazy place. There’s kids and food and music and stories - but you try to take that to the stage to be honest and bring the energy.”

The Reklaws, Jade Eagleson and Nate Haller Hit The Memorial Centre With Winters A Beach Tour

“It’s been a crazy two years - as everyone knows - and we couldn't be more excited to get back out and do what we love the most - throw big parties with our fans,” said Jenna Walker about heading back on the road in the New Year for the Winter’s A Beach tour. “We know country music fans are hungry for live music and a good time and we can’t wait to have one of those time-of-your-life moments with them again across the country on this tour! We’re also so blessed to be able to do it with two of our very talented friends - Jade Eagleson and Nate Haller.”

2021 has been a record-setting year for The Reklaws, kicking off with a JUNO nomination for Group of The Year — the only country act nominated in the category — and a career record of six 2021 CCMA Award nominations, the most of any artist, across categories including Entertainer of the Year, Fans’ Choice, Group or Duo of the Year, Single of the Year (x2) and Interactive Artist(s) of the Year.

Eagleson has been making quite the mark since his record-breaking debut album.

Monday’s announcement follows the release of his sophomore album and the inspiration behind his tour set, Honkytonk Revival, on Nov. 12. Saturated with the sounds of old-school instruments like dobro, steel guitars and fiddles, Honkytonk Revival basks in all the glory of a true honkytonk and highlights the booming vocals Eagleson is celebrated for. Eagleson will take the stage to play the new music live for the first time alongside his full 7 piece band.

New to the country music scene, Nate Haller’s debut single “Lightning In A Bottle,” landed him his first Top 10 at Canadian Country Radio and his new single, "Somewhere To Drink" featuring The Reklaws and Brett Kissel, is currently climbing the charts.

Alice Cooper and Buckcherry Taking the Stage at the Peterborough Memorial Centre

Rock ‘n roll star Alice Cooper with special guest Buckcherry will perform at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Mar. 27 next year announced on Monday.

The concert is part of Cooper’s “Monsters of Rock Cruise” tour that had announced several new spring dates including Peterborough.

The Verandah Society Presents Back Home for the Holidays

Showplace Performance Centre will be turning their lights on for this first time since March 2020 to host The Verandah Society; Back Home for the Holidays, on Dec. 11 and 12.

After a summer of performing at the 4th Line Theatre, The Verandah Society will move indoors, and be joined by Irish Millie, Dan Fewings, and the orphans from the upcoming production of Annie with the Peterborough Theatre Guild.

The audience will get to listen to festive songs, stories and camaraderie, while being the first to try out the new seats at showplace.

The show runs approximately one hour and 15 minutes, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.

Dallas Smith, JUNO and CCMA Award winning country music star, will be performing at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on June 25, 2022.

Smith’s Some Things Never Change Tour will feature special guests James Barker Band, Shawn Austin, JoJo Mason, Kelly Prescott and Manny Blu.

Presale for PMCScoop Members is from Wednesday at 10 a.m. to Thursday at 10 p.m, online only.

In From the Cold Christmas Concert to be Livestreamed This Year

The 22nd Annual In From the Cold Christmas concert will be livestreamed from St. James United Church on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m.

The annual concert has been a mainstay of the Peterborough Christmas season since its inception in 2000, having raised over $150,000 for the YES Shelter of Peterborough over the years.

Last year’s audio retrospective, broadcast on Trent Radio, raised a record total of almost $13,000.00 through an online Canada Helps fundraiser.

“A year ago I never would have guessed that, this year, we would not be back at the Market Hall performing to a full house, once again,” said concert organizer, John Hoffman. “But, although things are much better with the pandemic, there were still some uncertainties around safety when we had to make decisions about staging the concert.”

Given the livestreaming possibilities that were developed by the St. James Players over the past 20 months, Hoffman and his colleagues decided to take the show online for this year. Performers will be playing live at the church, and people can watch the concert on the internet by going to stjamesplayers.ca/live

In From the Cold 2021 will feature a mix of traditional, Celtic and contemporary Christmas and winter songs performed by perennial In From the Cold hosted folk band Carried Away and their musical friend Curtis Driedger. What’s different this year that, for the first time, the Convivio Chorus will not be part of the show.

“We just couldn’t be certain enough about everyone’s safety and comfort,” explains Hoffman.

Driedger will not be appearing as Enrique “Roy” Claveer, but rather as a member of The McDonnel St. Gospel Quartet, who will render some Christmas songs in spirited country gospel style.

“This concert creates a warm and supported feeling for all of us at the YES Shelter for Youth and Families,” said Brooke Erickson, Development Lead at YES. “People experiencing homelessness in Peterborough can sometimes feel forgotten by their community. In From the Cold is an annual reminder that Peterborough is a city that comes together in support of their neighbours that are profoundly struggling.”

Tickets will not be sold for this event. The livestream is available free-of-charge but viewers and supporters are encouraged to donate to the In From the Cold fundraiser for YES at the following link when they enjoy the show.

The Verandah Society and Irish Millie Team Up for Barnyard Benefit Concert

The Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Foundation and Century 21 United Realty Inc. are joining together to present the Barnyard Benefit Concert, in support of the Salvation Army Toy Drive and Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Foundation’s Santa’s Sleigh, on Sunday, Nov. 7.

The Barnyard Benefit Concert will be held at Hollowbrook Highlands in Bethany Hills, formerly South Pond Farms. The Verandah Society with Kate Suhr and Megan Murphy will perform with special musical guest Irish Millie.

“For so many years we’ve participated in the Salvation Army Toy Drive as a company,” said Vanessa Oakehogan, owner of Century 21. “ We do our best to raise money as a team so we can go buy gifts to donate.”

Attendees can enjoy music all afternoon, as well as trail walks, a silent auction, chili by campfire and a cash bar.

The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation’s Santa’s Sleigh, takes place at Walmart on Chemong Road in Peterborough from Nov. 25 to Dec. 6.

Participants choose a child’s name from a Christmas tree, shop, then drop gifts off in Santa’s Sleigh. The donated toys are delivered by Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society social workers for children to open on Christmas Day.

Peterborough Singers Prepare to Deck the Halls with Yuletide Cheer Concert

Peterborough Singers have announced that their annual Yuletide Cheer concert will take place on Nov. 27.

Hosted at Emmanuel United Church, George St.N, Concert go-ers will hear seasonal repertoire, including instrumental music from the brass ensemble Venabrass, and the Peterborough Singers premiere performance of ‘To be continued …’, a commissioned piece by Len Ballantine.

The concert will be approximately 75 minutes long and will not include an intermission.

All tickets must be purchased online.

All audience members are required to wear a mask at all times and must be fully vaccinated. Choir members will also be masked.
