2nd Annual Iron Chef Market Challenge This Wednesday

On Wednesday, October 1st, the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market will host its 2nd annual Iron Chef Market Challenge. Four local chefs will be given identical baskets containing lots of seasonal fall produce, local meat and cheese, and other market goods. They will also be given $10 worth of Nourish Coupons to select and purchase a "secret ingredient" from any market vendor.

Starting at 10:30 a.m., Chefs will be given 1.5 hours to create a seasonal dish on-site that will be sampled and rated by a panel of guest judges at noon. One local Chef will be crowned the 2nd Annual Market Iron Chef by creating an innovative dish that showcases local products, using everything in the basket. Chefs include returning Champion Steve Hancock from St. Veronus, Lindsey Dupuis from Brio Gusto, Lorianne Cichellio of the PC Cooking School in Lindsay, and Geoff Kirkland of the Lantern Restaurant.

There Is A Corn Festival In Downtown Peterborough September 3rd

On Wednesday, September 3rd, the Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market is hosting a Corn Festival!

Head on down to the market to enjoy freshly roasted corn on the cob, get some recipe ideas and buy some locally grown corn to take home and enjoy.

Corn will be served between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. while supplies last. The Downtown Farmers’ Market opens at 8:30 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. every Wednesday in the Louis St. Parking Lot, just east of Charlotte & Aylmer.

5th Annual Caribbean Street Festival Is On Today!

Head Downtown today (August 7th) from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the 5th Annual Caribbean Street Festival. Taste Caribbean food, and see live entertainment on Hunter Street between George and Water.

"Organized in early August to loosely coincide with Independence Day in Jamaica and Bermuda, the Festival has grown each year with more entertainers, food vendors, businesses and non-profits exhibiting their wares! Children’s activities will be available in the Kids Zone and community members can enjoy live entertainment; both local and regional, sample delicious Caribbean-inspired food from local restaurants, browse various merchandise outlets, and experience the unique carnival culture that the Caribbean has to offer!"
