Peterborough Astronomical Association Invites You to Armour Hill For Special Viewing

Tonight (August 12th), the skies will light up as the Perseids meteor shower dances through the night sky. To help view this celestial show, the Peterborough Astronomical Association—a group of people who love space and viewing the night sky—is inviting folks up to Armour Hill (Asburnham Memorial Park) starting at 8 p.m. for a peek at this year's shower (let's hope there aren't any clouds, which will obscure the meteors). Although not necessary, there will be telescopes available to be able to see all the other wonders the night sky has to offer. The event is free. Screening of "The Clean Bin Project" a Success

Nearly every seat was occupied at the screening of The Clean Bin Project last night in the auditorium of The Peterborough Public Library. People sat attentive as they watched the journey of Jen and Grant over the 365 days of their project.

Laughter was heard throughout as the duo brought a great deal of wit and humour to their adventure as they worked through new and innovative ways to do the most simplest day-to-day tasks in a more environmentally, garbage-free approach. Shock was also seen on the faces of many as statistics on garbage and waste poured onto the screen that were just too heartbreaking to believe.

After the screening, the couple welcomed questions, comments and feedback from the audience. I would like to thank Jen and Grant for choosing Peterborough as one of their stops along their cycling journey across the country to get the word out, opening our eyes and reminding us of all the little things we could change in our day to day lives to make a little bit of a difference in the well-being and future of our planet.

The Many Paths and Trails in and Around the Patch

After spending a recent evening strolling through Beavermead Park, I was delighted to see so many Peterborough folks taking full advantage of one of the many paths and trails our little city has to offer.

Whether it's jogging, cycling, hiking or simply taking the dog for a walk, Peterborough has it covered!

Check out these sites for more info on paths, trails and bikeways in the area:
