The Blockbuster locations in Peterborough are closing and their inventory sale has begun starting today. Blockbuster Canada, a victim of the digital movie rental age, was unable to find a buyer willing to invest in their business and is closing down all remaining stores. As the receiver said in a statement issued last week:
"As a result of the significant changes in Blockbuster Canada Co.'s competitive landscape, the company's 'bricks and mortar' business model has experienced significant challenges over the last few years, largely due to the proliferation of various alternatives available to media consumers in Canada."
The Rogers Video also fell victim here in Peterborough earlier this summer.

Sure frustation is mounting at the long lines, but this is utterly unexcusable. Someone could have been seriously hurt. Listen as the driver speeds up as he approaches the line. And they laugh about it. Dumb and dumber.
