/St. Peter’s on-the-Rock is an island church situated on beautiful Stony Lake in the Kawarthas, near Peterborough.
It celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014—with the first service there taking place in 1914.
St Peter's is a non-denominational church with Sunday services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. all summer through August 30th. Generations of families who cottage on Stony and nearby Clear Lake have been going there.
The only way to get to it is by boat...
Summer weddings and christenings are also popular there, and it's no wonder. The church is pure serenity...
The church holds up to 225 people.
The view from the church pews is spectacular...
Guests and tourists come from all over on the Trent Severn Waterway to check out this special church where everyone is welcome...

Trent University Approved As Site for Peterborough’s New Arena Complex
/Trent University and the City of Peterborough have announced plans to build a new arena complex on the East Bank of Trent’s Symons Campus, following a unanimous vote at City Council.
The new arena development—which will be located at the intersection of Nassau Mills Road and Pioneer Road—will provide innovative sports and recreation opportunities and facilities.
It will complement the surrounding Trent Nature Areas and access to the Otonabee River, and will serve as an important step forward in the economic and social development of the north end of Peterborough.
“A new twin-pad community arena in the city’s north end, next to Trent University, will improve access to sport-and-recreation opportunities in our community, benefiting the health and well-being of the city’s residents,” says Mayor Daryl Bennett. “We’re thrilled that Trent is supporting this project, which provides the land and potential for the development of a regional sports complex.”
***The University will deed 22-24 acres of land to the City of Peterborough for the construction of the complex, which will fulfill the City’s need to replace the existing Northcrest Arena and will increase the amount of ice time available to the community.

It's A #CanadaDay Strawberry Festival At Peterborough Downtown Farmers' Market
/On July 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market will be celebrating Canada Day with a special Strawberry Festival.
It's the beginning of summer and the height of strawberry season, and the perfect day for this festival.
There will be lots of strawberries for sale from vendors including McLeans Berry Farm, C. Bruni & Sons, Circle Organics, and Fishers Farm. The front market booth will have special Canada themed strawberry treats—and will be handing out samples to market-goers. Throughout, market vendors will be showcasing many ways to use and enjoy strawberries.

Collectively, the entire City is doing a terrific job—achieving a 57% diversion rate in 2014.
Certain households really stand out for their excellent recycling by using two blue boxes to separate containers from paper products and ensuring no garbage or hazardous materials find their way into the blue box.
City representatives will be in your neighbourhood this summer, searching for Peterborough’s best recyclers and thanking them with a “Thumbs Up” label for their blue box.
