Raghunanan stood on top over seven other competing companies. This event marked the finale of a 13-week program to propel regional startups from concept to market readiness.

The event was held at Innovation Cluster’s facility in Downtown Peterborough at the Venture North Building.

Entrepreneurs pitched their innovative solutions to a panel of expert judges, Christine Crandell, Gail Moorhouse, and Amit Bhanot to try to claim the top prize.

Raghunanan’s pitch involves the in vitro fertilization (IVF) sector, offering products in patch and gel form. Their products eliminate pain and reduce costs for women facing infertility, both major barriers to accessing traditional needle-injected IVF treatments.

“Winning this competition means we can accelerate and move forward,” said Raghunanan. “We loved the LevelUP program, and we’ve made a lot of progress in a very short period of time. I am extremely proud of where we are.”

“Our first cohort has set a high benchmark for success," said Crandell. “Seeing these entrepreneurs evolve over the past weeks has been profoundly inspiring.”

Innovation Cluster is accepting new applicants for the next LevelUP cycle beginning on Aug. 6. The application deadline is July 1.

Porter Martone's Five Points Helps Topple Kazakhstan 11-3 At IIHF U18 World Championship

Martone got a goal and four assists in the game.

His first point was late in the opening period as the secondary assist for Maxim Massé’s one-timer power-play goal with under three minutes left in the frame.

Martone had three points in the second period: a primary assist, a secondary helper, and a goal.

His first was when he entered the zone on the rush with an outnumbered attack. He left a drop pass for Gavin McKenna who gave it to Henry Mews in the high slot and quickly snapped it home for a 5-1 game.

The Mississauga Steelhead’s next point came from intercepting a pass in the offensive zone and immediately dished it to McKenna who scored on the backhand for a 7-1 lead.

The captain’s only goal came from a one-timer where the cross-crease pass found Martone’s stick and had an easy tap-in for the 8-1 lead.

His final point was an assist late in the third period. He passed the puck back off a faceoff win to his defenceman which eventually allowed one of his forward linemates, McKenna, get his second of the game, giving him a 10-2 lead and an eventual 11-3 victory.

Canada finishes first in Group B and will play an opponent to be determined for Thursday in the quarterfinals.

“It was great to feel the fellowship, support, and comradery of the crowd which is what the event has always been about,” said Vince Bierworth, GPHSF executive director. “No matter what format the event has taken, there are so many that support its mission. For that we are very grateful.”

The top three fundraising teams were: Macks Pack, The White Family and Team Bene’s Buddies.

The top three individual fundraisers were Stephanie Sutton, Rebecca Mcevoy and Cally White.
