The year was 1991. Presumably, some significant world events occurred. The world truly changed in the fall however, when something truly magnificent happened in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. A beacon of hope was lit and has shone brightly ever since – The Arrogant Worms. The Arrogant Worms began as a comedy troupe performing songs and sketches on campus radio. The early feedback on the live shows was clear: lose the sketches. So the songs endured and they all remain because the band hates to throw anything out.
Harry delivers his live show with a variety of stringed instruments including the Mohan Veena (Indian slide guitar), drums, guitars, banjo & harmonica.
Drum Legend Paul DeLong Returns to Peterborough for Three Shows This Spring
/Best known for his work with singer Kim Mitchell, Canadian drum legend Paul DeLong is coming to Peterborough; performing three shows this spring.

DeLong is said to still spend most of his time on tour with bands around the world to this day, feeding his soul through the music that inspired the drummer to become a musician in the first place - jazz fusion.
Fifty years ago, on May 4, 1973, DeLong saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra live in concert for the first time. They were a jazz-rock fusion band on the cutting edge of music. “My mind was blown, I had never heard anything like them before,” said DeLong from his home in Toronto. "It's still the heaviest experience of my life.”
On the 50th anniversary of the fateful concert that would go on to shape DeLong's career as one of North America's most prolific multi-platinum award winning drummers, Paul DeLong’s ONE WORD band will play at the Gordon Best Theatre on May 4, just weeks before he’s set to play Showplace Theatre with Brass Transit and Lighthouse.
The show promises to be an "unforgettable night of fusion" with music from the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Allan Holdsworth, Weather Report, Jeff, Beck, Jean-Luc Ponty and more.
Joining DeLong on stage will be Peterborough's own award winning electric violinist, Victoria Yeh, Grammy nominee Steve Lucas on bass, Michael Murray shredding on guitar and veteran Toronto keyboardist, Don Baird.

Harry Manx Presented by Folk Under The Clock and Market Hall Performing Arts Centre
/Folk Under The Clock and the Market Hall Performing Arts Centre have come together to present the musical stylings of Harry Manx ‘The Blues Man’ at Market Hall on April 14.

Harry Manx has spent years fusing eastern musical traditions with the blues, switching between conventional guitars, harmonica and banjo and the decidedly different Mohan Veena, a 20-stringed instrument invented by Manx’ Indian mentor Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.
Manx is often referred to as the “Mysticssippi” Blues Man, because of his expertise in melding both East and West music together and therefore, “creating musical short stories that wed the Blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas.”
Over the last 10 years, Harry Manx released 11 Albums and has garnered a room full of awards including, “seven Maple Blues Awards, six Juno nominations, the Canadian Folk Award in 2005 for Best Solo Artist and won CBC Radio’s “Great Canadian Blues Award” in 2007. His most recent accomplishment was receiving yet another Juno Nomination for “Blues Album of the Year”, for his release “Bread and Buddha” in 2010.

Explore something new together and try your hand at one of our potter’s wheels alongside someone special. Share a special moment while learning the basic technique in throwing a pot.
It is important to arrive 10-15 mins ahead of time. Our pottery studio is downstairs so the door will not remain open. The door will be locked shortly after 7 p.m. so please arrive early.
It is a long process for pottery to become ready to come home. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your pottery pieces to be finished for you. We will call you once they are ready for pickup.

Sean Hully Jazz Group
Sean Hully brings back the first performance of the jazz quintet since 2015 playing hard bop standards. Joining him is Roger Chong on trombone, Randall Johnson Chung on guitar, Duncan Hopkins on bass, and Zebulun Barnow on drums.
This free event to the public is sponsored by UPM Local 518 and the Music Performance Trust Fund.

Jackson Delta - True Blue at Market Hall
Peterborough’s own critically acclaimed blues trio, Jackson Delta returns to the Market Hall for what has been an interrupted annual reunion. It’s been a tough couple of years for musicians although Jackson Delta were lucky to have performed a handful of outdoor shows this past two summers.
The trio have performed all over North America from Memphis to Inuvik from Vancouver to Halifax. They have played countless Folk, Jazz and Blues Festivals plus radio and television and they still enjoy a dedicated fan base from across the years.
These days all members are involved in their own personal projects but always enjoy getting together and making their style of Blues that is upbeat and positive. They’ll be playing their ‘hits’ plus a sprinkling of newer tunes. As always, I’m sure there will be the usual stage banter that inevitably gets some laughs at a band members expense.

Kawartha Downs Announce Lineup For Kawartha Country Music Festival For July 1-2; Dean Brody to Headline
/Kawartha Downs has announced its lineup for its annual Kawartha Country Music Festival, featuring several Canadian country artists for July 1 and 2 announced on Wednesday.

Multi-platinum-selling artist Dean Brody is the headliner for the festival as he will be joined by The Reklaws, James Barker Band, Jade Eagleson and Sacha.
"We are thrilled to bring back our annual country music festival to Kawartha Downs," said Summer Nickerson-Hagen, marketing director. "This year's festival will be bigger and better than ever, with an amazing lineup of talented country artists at a great price. We look forward to bringing back our signature fireworks show on Canada Day Weekend as well."
Pre-sale tickets begin Wednesday morning and through Thursday at 10 p.m. with the pre-sale code KCMF2023.

JUNO Award-Winning Artist Amanda Marshall Performing at the PMC on June 14
/Diamond-selling and multi-JUNO Award-nominated singer-songwriter Amanda Marshall is set to perform at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on June 14, announced on Monday.

The performance is part of her ‘25 & Counting: The Heavy Lifting Tour’ with Peterborough as her third stop. It features Marshall’s new song collection entitled ‘Heavy Lifting’ being released this summer, with the first single ‘I Hope She Cheats’ being released this Friday on all streaming services.
Tickets for all dates are on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday and available at her official website. VIP packages for the tour will be available, including a meet and greet with Marshall and merchandise.

Join the Seasoned Spoon to celebrate 20 years of deliciousness.
The café has been a hub for students, staff and faculty at Trent University and in the community, feeding both bodies and minds with locally-grown meals and ideas that strengthen the local food system and honour relations with the land and the community.
At 5 p.m. on the Saturday they will be gathering in the Great Hall for live music, food and some fun foodie activities. The event will have the café’s Zine/Cookbooks and new t-shirts available for the first time. All money raised will go towards purchasing the Trent Vegetable Gardens this trike for their veggie deliveries.

The Modern Makers Market is starting 2023 off with an exciting new event to hit the Market. This is the first time they are hosting a multi-day event with entertainment to open the weekend.
Saturday March 18th 40 small businesses and an incredible event will be introduced within the market. A special guest performance from Drag queen Xtacylove (she/her, xe/xem) and A medium named Bri (she/they) are bringing their iconic Tarot & Drag show to the Modern Makers Market! Put in your name to be chosen for a personal tarot card reading by A Medium Named Bri. Come with a question in mind that you’d like guidance on, or receive general reading where anything is possible.
Guest performances kick off at 8:00 p.m. and run until approx 10 p.m. Tickets for Saturday must be pre purchased before the event.
On Sunday, Modern Makers is hosting their largest Spring market ever! 90+ vendors will be available to shop all things Spring. Courtney from courtyard tarot and Natasha from Henna by Tash will be at the Saturday and Sunday events. Make sure to get your name on their lists if you want a session.

Canvas Combat With Jason Wilkins
The Peterborough Arts Collective presents their first big event outside of the Jason Wilkins Factory: ‘Canvas Combat’ at Farmhill Weddings and Events March 11.
10 artists will be going head-to-head in three 30 minute rounds of live painting, and all pieces created during the event will be available during an auction post-battle. 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to the artists.
Tickets are $75 each (available online here) which includes a drink at the bar (or non-alcoholic beverage), personal charcuterie board (or vegan & vegetarian option) and travel to and from the venue by Pascal Bus Co., leaving from 188 Hunter St W. at 6:15 p.m.
