The Peterborough Home & Cottage Show
The Peterborough Home & Cottage Show is the PREMIER Marketing Showplace. The Peterborough Home & Cottage Show has been in existence for 42 years and was originally known as the Kawartha Home & Sportsman Show. It started at the Kinsman Centre and the show moved to the Healthy Planet Arena after it was built, and has consistently attracted thousands of visitors each year.

2023 CANCAST Fishing and Tackle Show
The Peterborough Tackle Swap and Fishing Show returns to Peterborough, Ontario under its new banner name and parent company, CANCAST Fishing. The 2023 CANCAST Fishing and Tackle Show will mark the official 2nd running of the Peterborough event and will more than double in size for 2023!
The CANCAST Fishing and Tackle show will once again be a hybrid event featuring a new expo Industry EXPO side showcasing the latest products to hit the market from top industry manufacturers, top bait makers and some of Canada’s biggest retailers. Also included in the event is the largest used fishing and tackle swap meet in Eastern Ontario. To top it off, on site we will also feature some of the Top Fishing Guides, Fishing Charter Captains, Tournament Series Directors, and top Industry Prostaff. More details to be released soon. Kawartha Downs Announce Lineup For Kawartha Country Music Festival For July 1-2; Dean Brody to Headline
/Kawartha Downs has announced its lineup for its annual Kawartha Country Music Festival, featuring several Canadian country artists for July 1 and 2 announced on Wednesday.

Multi-platinum-selling artist Dean Brody is the headliner for the festival as he will be joined by The Reklaws, James Barker Band, Jade Eagleson and Sacha.
"We are thrilled to bring back our annual country music festival to Kawartha Downs," said Summer Nickerson-Hagen, marketing director. "This year's festival will be bigger and better than ever, with an amazing lineup of talented country artists at a great price. We look forward to bringing back our signature fireworks show on Canada Day Weekend as well."
Pre-sale tickets begin Wednesday morning and through Thursday at 10 p.m. with the pre-sale code KCMF2023.

Send A Kid To Camp This Summer Through the AXE-travaganza Fundraising Event at the Peterborough Axe Club
/The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation is bringing back the Send a Kid to Camp AXE-travaganza fundraising event at the Peterborough Axe Club on May 5.

The Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation, in partnership with Herod Financial Services and supported by AON, Chemong Family Dental, KOMFS, Best Western Plus Otonabee Inn and Paris Marine, are bringing back this fundraising event with a goal to help 200 children involved with the Kawartha Haliburton Children’s Aid Society attend camp this summer.
“We are so excited to be able to bring this event back. This is our major fundraiser that allows us to provide the summer camp experience to children involved with the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society.” says Carrie Truman, executive director of the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation “The format of the evening is a family friendly axe throwing competition, along with food, a photo booth and a silent auction.”
2023 is the 40th anniversary of the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation. Since 1983, Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation says they have expanded their scope of support, yet summer camps have remained a priority program. Over the past 40 years, the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation reports they have sent over 5,340 kids to summer camp.
“Summer camp can offer disadvantaged children much more than a vacation. Camp is also an opportunity to connect with new friends, to meet and build relationships with caring adults and counsellors and to get outside and just be a kid,” said Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation in a press release. Our goal is to foster feelings of inclusion and belonging in children and build their self-confidence.”
Those participating in the Send a Kid to Camp AXE-travaganza can help ensure local, at-risk children have the opportunity to experience the joy of camp this summer.
There are two time slots of axe throwing, available May 5 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Tickets are available starting Monday for $50 per person and can be purchased online.

The Great Benjamins Circus Performing at Peterborough Memorial Centre For One-Day Only on April 29
/Gravity-defying and high-flying acts of The Great Benjamins Circus are coming to the Peterborough Memorial Centre for a one-day-only performance on April 29 at 4:30 p.m. announced on Tuesday.

John and Jairo Davenport are third-generation circus performers that created the Great Benjamins Circus.
Acts such as clowns, acrobats, aerialists and daredevils from all over the world will entertain the audience of all ages during their 90-minute show.

Douro's Longest-Running Irish Party Returns To St. Joseph's Parish Hall
/Douro is going to be green all over as the Peterborough Canadian Irish Club’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration is returning to the St. Joseph Parish Hall for music, food and children’s activities this Saturday.

The event begins at 1 p.m., featuring musicians such as Natalie McMaster and Donnell Leahy, Fiddlestix, Roy Boyz and more.
Local band ‘The Patio Stones’ is performing from 7 - 11 p.m. for anyone who wants to get their dancing shoes on.
The day will also include activities for kids and Irish Soda bread for sale. A light dinner is available for purchase from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for Irish club members and $17 for non-members. Family passes (two adults and unlimited children) are $25 a member and $27 for non-members. Children under 12 are free admission. Tickets for only dancing (7 - 11 p.m.) are $10 for members or $12 for non-members.

Road Closures In Place For St. Patrick's Day Parade On Sunday Afternoon
/Downtown road closures are in place for Sunday’s 20th St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Peterborough beginning at 12:30 p.m. announced by the City.

The following road are being closed for the parade:
London Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
McDonnel Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
Murray Street between Aylmer Street and Water Street
George Street from Parkhill Road West (south side of intersection) to Brock Street
A flag-raising event with the Peterborough Irish Canadian Club is being held at City Hall at 1 p.m. with the parade to follow at 2 p.m. It travels south on George Street at McDonnel Street. A rolling road closure will be in place along George Street from Brock Street to McGill Street during the parade and run. All road closures are expected to be over by 4 p.m according to the City.
No Parking signs will be posted along George Street prior to the parade. Parking in municipal lots and parking garages is free on weekends. The following is a recommended list of parking places:
King Street Parkade at 202 King St.
Simcoe Street parking garage at 190 Simcoe St.
Chambers Lot at 184 Hunter St.
Reid Lot at 350 Reid St.
Surface lot at 365 Aylmer St.
Rehill Lot at 210 Wolfe St.
Del Crary Lot at 100 George St. N.
Downie Lot at 336 Downie St.
The following transit routes will have detours in place during the closure period:
