Spotlight: New Shop Chasing the Cheese Is A Cheesy Delight

Chasing the Cheese is a new cheese shop that recently opened up in Peterborough at 372 Water Street. Julie Austin started the business from her home with select artisan cheeses that were outside of the norm, but felt that to take things to the next level she needed to open her own store downtown.

Julie's cheese selection—and clientele—had been flourishing for a couple years before she decided to open the store on Water Street. Initially, it was a cheesemaking course that sparked her curiosity about all things cheese, and she found that even though there are basically only four basic ingredients in cheese, there are hundreds of outcomes. Presently her shop carries numerous kinds: Thunder Oak Gouda, Salt Spring Fresh Chevre and Maple Dale 7yr Cheddar, to name a few. Most of the cheeses are local or Made in Canada.

Sampling the various cheeses is a real pleasure, whether it's the unique taste or the way it dissolves on your tongue. Pop in today for a sampling, and let your senses guide you to a cheese that you wouldn't be able to find in your local grocery store.

Julie proudly shows off one of her cheese samples

Chasing the Cheese has the following hours:

Tue & Wed: 11 to 5

Thu & Fri: 11 to 7

Sat: 10 to 5

Sun & Mon: Closed
