Here's A Totally Inspiring Peterborough Video Message Called "Hip Hop Awakening"

This YouTube video from a Peterborough man is apparently a response to a Rap Battle that took place at Pappas Billiards on the weekend. But its articulate, positive and inspiring message extends well beyond Hip Hop and speaks to a lot of stuff going on in this community—including safety, the environment, jobs, poverty, food issues, social justice, love and youth culture.

Robbery/ Home Invasion:

On the 18th of October at approximately 8:15 pm the victims, a 23 year old male and a 21 year old female, were in their Dalhousie Street residence when they heard a knock at the door. The male went to answer it and was confronted by a male with his face covered and armed with a toy handgun. He forced his way into the home and once inside he pushed the male victim, threatened him with a knife and demanded money. The female victim heard the commotion and came into the kitchen to investigate. She was also threatened by the knife wielding suspect. They turned over approximately $135.00 cash and the suspect left. The police were called and located the toy handgun and the knife in the area. The suspect is described as being a white male, approximately 6’ tall, in his mid 20’s, skinny build, wearing a black toque, a black coat with a hood up over his head, black gloves with the fingers exposed, black pants and a black cloth covering his mouth and lower facial area. Here's A Block Parent Video That King George Public School Put Together In 1987

This video aired on the old Maclean Hunter Cable Television in Peterborough in the late eighties. The script and creative were done by Mrs. Crowley's Grade 5/6 class at King George Public School. Everything feels so retro—the styles, the music, the police cars.
