From Peterborough Lakefield Police...

Break and enter arrest:

On the 23rd June 2012 at approximately 2:00 am the Peterborough Lakefield Police responded to an alarm at PCVS.  Officers quickly attended and contained the school and began to search the inside.  Once inside officers learned that the chemistry lab had been entered and several bottles of chemicals had been removed and some of them had been spilled onto the floor.  The Peterborough Fire Department was contacted and attended to ensure that none of the chemicals posed any risk to persons within the school or to the school itself.  Once it was determined it was safe to proceed officers continued to check the school and located the 3 culprits hiding within.  Arrested and charged with Break and Enter are 20 year old Steven Bourne of Peterborough, 21 year old Travis Turner of Peterborough and 22 year old Matthew Cummings of Peterborough.  All three males were released from custody and will appear in court on the 19th July 2012 to begin the process to determine their guilt or innocence.

(Robert's famous aunts, author sisters Catherine Parr Traill and Susanna Moodie, both stayed there on occasion.) This historic house is a landmark in Lakefield. It has 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, an attached heated triple garage, a carriage house, 3 woodburning fireplaces, and is located on a 11.7 acre lot. And it's currently for sale—listed at $3.25 million. You can see it from the road on Queen St. driving through Lakefield, but we have often wondered what it looks like inside. Well, a video has been made by the listing agent which takes us inside it...
